Itinerary
- Day 1Accra ArrivalYou'll arrive at Kotoka International Airport where your guide meets you. Depending on when you land, there's time to walk through the University of Ghana campus and check out Oxford Street with its colorful African shops before heading to your hotel. After you check in, your guide will go over what's planned for the rest of your stay. Optional Activities- Short tour of University of Ghana, Legon campus

- Day 2AccraAfter breakfast, you'll see how Accra mixes modern buildings with colonial architecture throughout the day. Start at the W.E.B Du Bois Centre, then head to Independence Square to see the flame of African Liberation. From there, walk through Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and its museum. Later in the afternoon, you'll spend time in Jamestown, one of Accra's oldest neighborhoods, where you can visit the historic lighthouse and learn about the Afro-Brazilian families who lived at Brazil House. - Meals

- Day 3Accra to KumasiAfter breakfast, you'll drive through forest to reach Kumasi, the historical seat of the Ashanti Empire. By early afternoon you're there and heading to Manhyia Palace, which was once the official home of Ashanti Kings and is now a museum showing treasured items from the kingdom. Next, you'll see the Okomfo Anokye Sword, a 300-year-old symbol of Ashanti unity, before transferring to your hotel for the evening. - Meals

- Day 4KumasiAfter breakfast, you'll visit three different craft villages in the countryside around Kumasi. At Bonwire, you'll watch how the famous Kente Cloth is handmade on traditional looms and meet the paramount chief. Then you're heading to Ntonso to see artisans hand-stamping patterns on cotton cloth for Adinkra Textiles and learning about traditional black dye-making. In Ahwiaa, you'll explore the woodcarving village and see Royal stools and fertility dolls. This evening, you'll go to Kumasi Central Market, the largest open market in West Africa with more than 10,000 vendors. - Meals

- Day 5Kumasi to Cape CoastAfter breakfast, you'll drive toward Cape Coast with a stop at Assin Manso, the burial site of former slaves from the U.S. and Jamaica who were re-interred in 1998. You'll see the Slave River where captured Africans were washed before being held in the Slave castles. After lunch in Cape Coast, you'll tour Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site and former departure point for enslaved Africans, including the historic Door of No Return. - Meals

- Day 6Cape Coast to AccraStarting after breakfast, you'll visit Kakum National Park for a forest floor walk to spot birds, butterflies, and over 40 mammal species. You'll experience Africa's only aerial canopy walkway, a 1000-foot path with seven bridges reaching over 150 feet above ground. Then you'll head back to Accra in the late afternoon, stopping in Abandze village, the ancestral home of jazz legend Louis Armstrong, before transfer to the airport for your flight. - Meals
