- 7 Days in Ghana, incl. Accra and Cape Coast- Ghana's heritage comes alive over 7 days in Accra, Aburi, Akosombo, and Cape Coast. The tour includes UNESCO-listed castles, Kwame Nkrumah Museum, and Kakum National Park's canopy walkway. Six nights' accommodation, breakfast, and transport between landmarks costs approx. $310 per day. - Day 1Accra Arrival & OrientationWhen you land at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, go to your hotel to rest and adjust to West African time. For currency exchange, stick to the airport bank counters instead of street vendors. The rates are regulated and much safer. A past traveler shares: "The tour guide Swayba shared exactly where she would meet us at the airport—crucial with hundreds of people and taxi drivers at the exit doors!"
- Day 2Aburi & Local CultureVisit the historic Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm to learn about Ghana's cocoa industry. You'll see working farms and the complete process from planting to fermentation. After lunch, explore the Aburi region. If you want authentic souvenirs, connect with a local tailor for custom African attire. Just plan ahead as it takes 3-4 days to complete.
- Day 3Eastern Region DiscoveryStart at the Aburi Botanical Gardens from the colonial era, built in 1890. Go early before it gets too hot. Spend the night in Akosombo overlooking Lake Volta.
- Day 4Lake Volta ExperienceTake a morning boat trip on Lake Volta, the largest artificial lake in Africa. You'll get great views of the Adomi Bridge and highlands. One visitor noted: "The boat ride on Lake Volta was beautiful - we got to see the highlands and islands while learning about local fishing communities." Head back to Accra in the afternoon. The drive takes about 3 hours.
- Day 5Cape Coast HeritageLeave early (7 AM) for Kakum National Park to avoid crowds at the canopy walkway. It's 350 meters long and 50 meters high, so skip it if you're afraid of heights.
