Itinerary
- Day 1
Cape Town to Oudtshoorn
You'll get picked up from Cape Town between 6 and 8 in the morning, then head out on a long drive through changing landscapes toward the Klein Karoo region. The journey covers about 450 kilometers, so you'll have time to settle in and watch the terrain shift around you. Once there, you'll spend time on a game drive in a private malaria-free reserve using an open 4x4 vehicle. Your ranger will point out wildlife like giraffes, rhinos, lions, elephants, zebras and wildebeest while explaining what you're seeing about the animals, birds and insects in the area. Weather permitting, there's a chance for a short walk through the bush to get a closer look at the plants and animals. By evening you'll roll into Oudtshoorn and settle in for the night.

Oudtshoorn to Cape Town
This one starts early with a bush safari in an open-top 4x4 through the Klein Karoo, where you'll look for buffalo, giraffes, rhinos, springbok and wildebeest with the Swartberg Mountains creating a dramatic backdrop the whole time. The drive pays attention to the smaller creatures, insects and native plants rather than just the big animals. If you're interested, there's an optional visit to see three rescued elephants in a natural setting where they roam around, eat and play (this costs extra). From there you'll head back to Cape Town via the scenic Route 62, which is famous around South Africa for its winding mountain passes, vineyards and orchards. You'll arrive back in Cape Town by late evening.
