Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Paro
Your guide will be waiting at Paro Airport with a nameplate when you land. After lunch at a local Bhutanese restaurant, you'll head to Rimpung Dzong, one of the country's most sacred sites and the place where Buddhism first arrived. Then it's a transfer to your hotel in Thimphu for the night.

- Day 2
Punakha
Following breakfast, you'll drive to Punakha and stop at Dochula Pass (3,050m) to take in the mountain views. From there, Punakha Dzong comes next, the massive structure sitting where two rivers meet and the former capital before 1955, where the first King was crowned in 1907. You'll also visit Chimi Lhakhang temple, built by the Divine Madman and known for fertility blessings. After that, continue to Wangdue before heading to your overnight stay in Punakha.

Thimphu
After breakfast, the drive takes you back to Paro via Thimphu. You'll stop at Tashicho Dzong, the center of government and monastic order, then check out Motithang Mini Zoo to see the Takin research centre, home to the National animal. Memorial Chorten comes next, a stupa built to ward off negative influences, and the National Post Office lets you get your photo printed on stamps for USD 3. Before heading to Paro for the night, stop at Buddha Point for views of the valley.

- Day 4
Taktshang Monastery
After breakfast, you'll drive to the foot of Taktshang Monastery and hike uphill for about 2 hours to reach this sacred site perched on an 800m rock face. According to legend, Guru Padmasambhava flew here on a tigress in the 8th century to meditate. Later, following lunch, Kyichu Lhakhang is on the agenda, a 7th-century temple and one of 108 built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gembo. If interested, a traditional Bhutanese Hot Stone Bath can be arranged for USD 25 per person (book 6 hours ahead). You'll stay in Paro.

Departure to Kathmandu
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll be dropped at Paro Airport for your flight to Kathmandu. Once you land, your driver will pick you up from Kathmandu Airport and take you to your hotel.
