- Marco Nicolas· July 4th, 2025Automatic translation available in English. View in EnglishWe stayed with a nomadic family in Mongolia for a few days. The experience was special in its own way, but not quite what we had imagined. We stayed in the same place the whole time, which became a bit monotonous in the long run - mainly because the family was sometimes not there and we didn't know where they were. Due to the heat, we spent a lot of time in the yurt or looked for small hiking trails on our own. Our guide was friendly and spoke good English, but in my opinion he could have organized more or communicated better what was planned and when. When the family was there, they were very welcoming and openly integrated us into their everyday life: We were allowed to milk cows, round up sheep and help make dairy products - that was definitely a highlight. The food was also consistently delicious and authentic. Important to know: There are no sanitary facilities - the toilet is a simple hole, showering is not possible. I therefore strongly recommend bringing wet wipes, a filter water bottle, toilet paper and mosquito spray. You should also be aware that the horses are very wild and not necessarily suitable for beginners. If you are looking for a quiet time in beautiful nature and can accept simple living conditions, you will still have an impressive experience here.Show moreTrip date: June 2025

- AAnnie· July 31st, 2019Absolutely love love love TTR Mongolia! We spent a spectacular four days on a customized trip lead by the owner. It was packed with beautiful sand dunes, lakes, historical sites, museums, monasterys, a culture show, camel and horseback riding, shopping, and great company. The food was delicious, and catered towards our taste. Doljkoo is a delight and makes every adventure so fun! The driver guide is very good and safe on the road. He was very polite--he always took care of our luggage, opened our doors for us, and made sure we had a beverage available, and he is a very talented photographer. They know all the secrets to a fun stay, and make you feel like you are together with them on a trip as friends and not guides! I love the people of TTR, you will too once you meet them and go on a tour. This was my second tour with TTR, we have become incredible friends, and I can't wait to go back for another!Show moreTTRMongolia commented on this reviewHi Dear Annie Thank you for your wonderful review. Asked on April 12th, 2025How much does a private room costs? Can I join as single traveller? What happens in case I arrive 1 day late? How much are the extra costs not included in this package for the entire tour? Tips, (must or not?) Entree Fees, etc.. Where do we normally eat? What time do we finish the tour? (For the flight back.)
- TTRMongoliaOperator•Written April 2025
Yes, you can join as a single traveller, and we can organise this tour exclusively for you. There are no private rooms available for this tour, as the idea is to stay and live with a Nomadic Family in their yurt. Travelers have their own yurts next to the one of the family. There are no extra costs. You are free to tip your guide and driver. You will eat with the family in their yurt. The area you'll go, Amarbayasgalant Monastery is located about 6 hours from Ulaanbaatar's airport. So I would not advise to have your flight the same day as the tour ends. Better to fly out the following day.
