Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
Your trek on Mt Kilimanjaro kicks off at Londorossi Gate on the Lemosho route. The terrain varies as you make your way up to Mti Mkubwa Campsite for your first night. This is about getting your legs working and settling into the rhythm of mountain life.

Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp
Today takes you through moorland and over Shira ridge before descending onto the plateau. You'll reach Shira 1 Camp by evening. The varied landscape gives you a feel for how the mountain changes as you climb higher.

Landmarks Shira 1 Camp - Day 4
Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
A shorter day of roughly 3 hours across the Shira plateau. Most of your time goes to acclimatization walks around Shira 2 Camp, which sits pretty exposed up here. Temperatures drop below freezing/0°C, so bundle up and let your body adjust to the altitude.

Landmarks Shira 2 Camp - Day 5
Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
You'll climb through rocky scree up to Lava Tower, one of the mountain's most distinctive landmarks. After that, you descend into the Great Barranco Valley and camp for the night. This up and down helps with acclimatization.

Landmarks Lava Tower Barranco Camp - Day 6
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
The steep Great Barranco Wall tests your legs as you climb up into the alpine desert of Karanga Valley. Karanga Camp is your destination for the night. The terrain here feels different from what you've seen so far.

Landmarks Karanga Camp - Day 7
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
You'll trek through alpine desert terrain up to Barafu Camp. Spend your afternoon getting familiar with the area before dark sets in. Check your thermal clothing and equipment, then rest as much as you can after dinner before the midnight push.

Landmarks Barafu Camp - Day 8
Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
This is it. You start trekking around midnight in the dark, pushing toward the crater rim and then across scree and snow to Uhuru Peak at nearly 6,000 metres/19,685 feet. After summiting, you descend to Mweka Camp. It's the hardest day mentally and physically, but reaching the peak stays with you.

Mweka Camp to Moshi
You continue down through forested lower slopes and reach Moshi in the afternoon. After freshening up, the mamas of the Moshi Women's Cooperative give you a proper welcome. They'll present you with a gift and certificate recognizing your climb at this G Adventures supported project.

Moshi to Zanzibar
A flight takes you from Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar. Once you transfer to your hotel, your CEO leads an orientation walk through Stone Town's historic streets. Later, you can join an optional longer walking tour or just wander and find your own spots around the island.

You'll head to a local spice plantation for a guided tour learning about Zanzibar's famous spices. After that, it's time to hit the white-sand beaches and turquoise waters of the island's coast. Relax and soak in the island vibes.

Zanzibar Beach
The day is yours. Head to the beach to relax, swim, snorkel, or check out different parts of the island on your own. Spend your time however feels right, whether that's lounging in the sun or exploring somewhere new.

Departure
Your group transfer from the beach happens in the morning. When you arrive back in Stone Town late morning, you'll depart. Just schedule any onward travel for 2:30pm or later to give yourself enough time for the transfer without rushing.
