14 Days in Namibia, incl. Windhoek and Etosha National Park
Through 8 distinct destinations, this 14-day route from Windhoek to Etosha National Park showcases Namibia's diversity. Marvel at Twyfelfontein's rock art, ascend Sossusvlei's dunes, and wander colonial Swakopmund. Nights are spent at premium lodges like Agama and Toshari, guided by local experts.
- Days 1-2
Windhoek & Kalahari
Land in Windhoek before 1 PM to make the most of your day. Book morning flights to avoid the bumpy afternoon winds. Start at the Craft Center for orientation and then drive to the Kalahari. Take an optional sunrise dune drive on your first morning but pack warm clothes since desert mornings get surprisingly cold.
- Days 3-4
Sossusvlei Region
Drive 4 hours to Sesriem to access the famous dunes. Take a break at Solitaire for their well-known apple pie in this unique desert stop. Get to Sossusvlei before sunrise by leaving your lodge at 5:30 AM for the best views. The 350-meter dunes need good physical fitness. Walk up at an angle instead of straight up and wear closed shoes because the sand gets very hot.
- Days 5-6
Swakopmund
Take the ocean-desert route to this German-influenced town. You'll drive about 5 hours through the Namib Desert past Kuiseb Canyon. Book a morning marine cruise from Walvis Bay for seal and dolphin watching when the water is calmer. Pack a windbreaker because the Benguela current makes this coast quite cool.
- Day 7
Damaraland
- Days 8-10
Etosha National Park
- Day 11
Waterberg Region
- Days 12-14
Return via Windhoek
14 Day Southern Africa Itinerary, incl. Windhoek and Cape Town
A 14-day trek through Namibia takes you to 10 destinations including Etosha National Park, Spitzkoppe, Swakopmund, and Fish River Canyon. Wildlife drives, dune climbing, canyon walks and cultural visits await. Accommodations include 8 campsites, 1 tented camp, and various guesthouses.
- Days 1-2
Windhoek & Waterberg Plateau, Namibia
Your Southern Africa adventure begins in Windhoek, Namibia's capital. Meet your group and travel to Waterberg Plateau (4-5 hours away). "The guides were super punctual and always adhered to announced times, making me feel safe throughout." Spend your time hiking the plateau's trails to spot buffalo and giraffe, or take it easy at the campsite pool.
- Days 3-4
Etosha National Park
Take a 4-5 hour drive to Etosha National Park for two days of wildlife viewing. Visit during dry season (May-October) when animals gather at waterholes for the best experience. "The wildlife viewing was incredible - animals practically come to you here," according to a recent visitor. Consider booking the optional open vehicle safari drive (1200 NAD) for better photos. Animals are most active early morning and late afternoon.
- Days 5-6
Spitzkoppe & Swakopmund
The journey to Spitzkoppe's dramatic rock formations takes 7-8 hours. Expect basic bush camping with long-drop toilets and no running water. Next, drive 3-4 hours to Swakopmund, a coastal town with German influences. Try sandboarding (700 NAD) or take a scenic flight over the Skeleton Coast (4800 NAD).
- Days 7-9
Namib Desert & Sossusvlei
- Days 10-11
Fish River Canyon & Orange River
- Days 12-14
Cederberg & Cape Town
Drive 6.5 hours through rooibos tea plantations to the Cederberg mountains for wine tasting and camping. The final stretch to Cape Town includes a stop at the !Khwa ttu San Culture Centre (5 hours). "Book extra nights in Cape Town," a traveler suggests, "there's too much to see in just one day." You might want to plan extra time for Table Mountain or wine tours (1675 ZAR).
14 Day Namibia Itinerary, incl. Windhoek and Etosha National Park
This 14-day journey covers seven major destinations across Namibia, from Windhoek to Etosha National Park. Highlights include 3 days in Sossusvlei's dunes, 2 days tracking rhinos in Palmwag Reserve, and 3 full days of game drives in Etosha.
- Days 1-2
Windhoek & Kalahari
A quick 45-minute transfer takes you from Hosea Kutako International Airport to Windhoek. The next day, drive 300km south to Mariental in the Kalahari Desert. Plan your game drive between 4-6pm when wildlife is most active. You might spot black impala and cheetah. The Kalahari gets hot, often over 95°F/35°C, so pack light, breathable clothes.
- Days 3-4
Sossusvlei & Dead Valley
The 5-6 hour drive west to Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert is worth every minute. Get to the park gates by sunrise (around 6am) to see the dunes at their best, when shadows create beautiful contrasts. It takes about 60-90 minutes to climb Big Daddy dune. Start early before the sand heats up and bring at least 2 liters of water per person.
- Days 5-6
Swakopmund
- Days 7-8
Damaraland
The 6.5-hour drive north to Damaraland offers beautiful views. Stop at Cape Cross Seal Colony (bring a bandana, the smell is strong). The real highlight is tracking black rhinos on foot in the Torra Conservancy. Wear neutral colors and listen carefully to your guide for the best chance to see these amazing animals up close.
- Days 9-11
Etosha National Park
Three full days in Namibia's best wildlife park. Get there at sunrise when animals are most active. You'll find different animals at the park's waterholes throughout the day. Elephants often show up between 11am-3pm. Keep a safe distance from lions, even in your vehicle. A recent visitor said, "Watching a pride of lions stalk prey at the floodlit waterhole after dark was absolutely mesmerizing."
- Days 12-13
Otjiwarongo Region
- Day 14
Return to Windhoek

Amazing tour!! Loved it.
- Classic Namibia 12 Days DEPARTING SATURDAYS **Sustainable Approach to Travel
We were completely blown away by the sights and sounds of Namibia during our recent camping safari with WAT. Anna was fantastic when planning our trip, always available to answer any questions. We were very impressed by the service of our guides Steinner and Klugger who were knowledgeable about the trip and expert campers. The food and service was very good. We got to see lots of animals and beautiful sceneries. I have no complaint because the experience beat our expectations.
- Namibia Lodge Safari
Very well organized tour, small group, we were lucky with 2 guides, saw lots of places, animals and everything that was there to be seen. Namibia incredible country. As a recommendation- 2 or 3 days more would have been ideal. Swakopmund has lots of activities and shops (this should be visited not on a weekend as everything shuts at 5pm) and the waterberg plateau also has so much more activities to do. And possibly 1 day just to relax as the drives of 500+ km per day are exhausting. But overall great experience
