Paula· October 23rd, 2025I was part of a group of 15 people. Most were above the age of 60, with only a few under 50. As a result, our guide gave us plenty of in-depth information about all aspects of religious and cultural life of the Malt0ese and the people that came to inhabit the Islands before. We visited both Gozo and Malta. This tour covered the coastlines, the inner cities and the many churches and burial sites of prehistoric settlers. We also covered the farming area and tasted local cuisine. All the hotels were quite comfortable and clean, albeit a little noisy on the weekend. I would say that this tour would be most suited to persons who love history and all the accompanying stories and details. I thought our guide Chantal had an amazing wealth of information that she shared with us daily. I'm not sure how she kept all the details in her head. As a group we shared many a meal together, so the tour is suitable for solo travelers as well as couples.Show more

Her knowledge of Malta's history, culture, flora and fauna and current life was more than comprehensive. Her passion, kindness and care was greatly appreciated by all on the tour. The only downfall for this tour was the poor quality accommodation on the island of Malta. The rooms were tiny (we didn't even have enough space to open our suitcases) - couples were given the same size rooms as singles. When you are staying at a hotel for 5 days, you should not be without tea and coffee making facilities, or a fridge - especially when there is no room service or a communal area to make yourself tea and coffee 24/7. All in our group agreed we would happily have sacrificed our stunning ocean views for a kettle, fridge and more space.Our bathroom had major problems - the toilet lifted from the floor at the base, the wall tiles finished inches from the door frame exposing the insulation and the hairdryer base lifted off the wall when you tried to get the hairdryer off. We asked for a room change within 20 minutes of getting to our room and realising it was far from acceptable for 2 people. Our guide Chantelle was very supportive of our situation and helped us deal with the hotel staff who even tried to tell us we should have ordered a bigger room. That was not within our power, that was Explore's job. We had even contacted the hotel 3 days prior to our arriving, to say we were on the end of a 6 week journey and had a large amount of luggage (we had booked an extra night there after the tour as we couldn't get a flight out on the day our tour ended.) It took 2 days and many conversations with the hotel duty manager to get the room changed. The second room was much better. Honestly, we loved the tour itself and the guide but the hotel in Malta wasn't much better than a youth hostel. Asked on August 9th, 2025What is the basic price for this tour in October 2025 for a single traveller? I am aged 81, reasonably fit and healthy, living alone and looking after myself and my home. I am able to walk a moderate distance at a moderate pace, further with rest stops, but my balance is suspect, I'm not very confident on inclines and steps without handrails, and I use sticks for reassurance. Is this tour likely to be feasible/suitable for me?

We have the below departures operating, currently there limited spaces available as this is a really popular trip: 11th October to the 18th October 2025: 1 space currently available. £2048 per person in a single room. 25th October to the 1st November 2025: 3 spaces currently available: £1698 per person in a single room. There's nothing that would be a concern however please be aware that this is a moderate paced tour with some walking on most days with walking tours of Victoria, Zebbug and Mdina. On day 4, there is a guided walking tour (approx 5-6 hours) of Valletta Old Town.
