  1. Day 1 Nairobi- Meru Mount Kenya Bandas (2,900m) 3hrs, 10km walk, 950m ascent.
  2. Day 2 Meru Mount Kenya Bandas – Lake Ellis Campsite (3,600m) 3hrs, 9km, 700m ascent
  3. Day 3 Lake Ellis - Minto's Camp. (4,200m) 4 hrs, 12km, 600m ascent
  4. Day 4 Minto's – Austrian hut 4,700m (top hut) 4 hrs, 7km, 500m ascent
  5. Day 5 Austrian camp – Pt Lenana – Old Moses. 6 hrs, 20km, 285m ascent – 1,400m descent
  6. Day 6 Old Moses camp – Nairobi. 2 hrs, 9km, 680m descent.

    My friend and I had an absolutely fantastic time climbing Mt Kenya, with Pita Safari’s. We climbed via the Chogoria - Sirimon route, which was stunning over 6 days. Our guides (Wilson and Sammy), cook (Peter) and porters (Simon, David and John) were amazing. They took care of our every need, they were very experienced and so knew exactly how to take care of us on our hike. They were so so friendly, happy and we felt very reassured that we were in good hands. We were given more food than we could possibly eat, and it was top notch! We would highly recommend you book with Pita safari’s. And ask for Wilson as your guide!

      How challenging is the hiking profile? Are paths very small with steep drops? Do I need to be vertigo-proof? Would vegetarian options be available?

      The hiking is moderate. Some parts are a bit slippery going up and down but with the help of hiking poles makes it easy to the most exposed parts. We keep distance to each other especially going steeply down the scree to make it safe to the next person. For vegetarian there will plenty of food available.

      Would it also be possible to hike up to Minto's Camp only? Returning on the same way afterwards? How many days would that be?

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before August 29th, 2025 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after August 29th, 2025, a minimum payment of 25% is required to confirm your booking with Pita Safaris. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
    • Some departure dates and prices may vary and Pita Safaris will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
