Asked on October 26th, 2023I am an active 62 year old female who will be traveling alone. I don't mind being matched up with another female if necessary to avoid extra expense. How does that work?
Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written October 2023This is a backpacking tour so there is no single supplement even is the TourRadar site says there is. This trip requires guests to carry all of their gear from camp to camp. Packs weigh about 30lbs. We can pair you with another female solo hiker to avoid the extra single supplement fee.

Asked on January 9th, 2023Can I take my dog?
Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written January 2023We are dog lovers, but we only allow registered service animals. Is your dog a service animal that is required because of a disability?

Asked on January 21st, 2022I was wondering what time as a pickup on the first day. Is it 5AM? Also, is it backpacking tour, where we'll need to carry everything with us? I read the description, and it seems like it is. Sometimes we'll stay in the same place, so the daily packs will be lighter. Please let me know if I'm thinking in the right direction.
Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written January 2022The guide will set the exact departure time for the morning but there is an orientation meeting at 5pm the evening prior. You will carry a full pack into camp and out but have a layover day to do a day hike with a lighter pack.

Traveler•Written January 2022Quick question: technically we will meet with the group on day 0? If the tour starts on Aug 22, the meeting will be on Aug 21? And if we meet in the evening, where will we spend a night?
Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written January 2022The orientation meeting would be at 5pm on Aug 21st at the Holiday Inn in downtown Asheville. You'd want to book somewhere to stay for the evening of Aug 21st. The Holiday Inn is a good option because you'd need to be there anyway for orientation, plus we have a discount there if you mention you're a Wildland guest.

Traveler•Written January 2022It says that the tour lasts for 4 days and ends on Aug 25. But you're saying it ends on 24th. I'm a little confused here.
Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written January 2022As of October 2021, the Shining Rock Wilderness trip has become a 3-day trip instead of a 4-day trip due to trail washouts caused by hurricane flooding.
