Itinerary
- Day 1
Eureka - Prairie Creek Redwoods
You'll start in Eureka and take a one-hour shuttle heading north before getting on your bike through Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway. The redwoods here are massive and the cycling feels like riding through another world. After lunch you'll walk around the forest and check out Big Tree, a redwood that's over 300 feet tall and more than 1,500 years old. The evening gets you back to Eureka for the night.

- Day 2
Patrick's Point - Arcata - North Jetty - Eureka
After breakfast you'll shuttle up the coast to Patrick's Point where you can see the Pacific from above. Then it's time to cycle through ferns and mosses on scenic roads around Trinidad. You'll stop for lunch in Arcata, a historic gold-rush town on Humboldt Bay, and from there cycle to the North Jetty. Later in the day explore Eureka's Victorian Old Town on foot, checking out historic homes, cafes, and bookstores. You're staying at the Carter House tonight.

Humboldt Bay - Ferndale
You'll get a quick kayaking lesson and then paddle out on Humboldt Bay, which has over 316 bird species and is one of California's most pristine wetlands. The paddle takes you past egret rookeries, archaeological sites, and windswept cypress trees. Later you'll cycle to historic Ferndale, a town that was featured in The Majestic film. The Victorian Village Inn is your place for the night.

Lost Coast - Panther Gap - Bull Creek Redwoods - Ferndale
This day takes you through the Lost Coast, the only section of California's coastline without a major highway running through it. You'll ride over Panther Gap and through Bull Creek Redwoods with views of deserted beaches and blue water. If you want the full experience, there's a 2,500-foot climb to Panther Gap summit with views of both the Pacific and redwood forests, or you can take a van over the pass instead. Either way you'll descend through massive redwoods and shuttle back to Ferndale for another night at the Victorian Inn.

Humboldt Redwoods State Park
You're cycling through Humboldt Redwoods State Park along the Eel River among ancient redwoods on the Avenue of the Giants. These Coast Redwoods can live over 2,000 years and reach heights above 350 feet. There's a section where you'll actually cycle through the giant space between the roots of a living redwood. Route options range up to 50 miles depending on what you want to do. You'll stay at the historic Benbow Inn.

Humboldt Redwoods State Park - Eureka
Today slows things down with a hike along Bull Creek in Humboldt Redwoods State Park, which has the largest old-growth redwood forest in the world. You'll walk through cathedral-like groves for one more look at these trees before heading back. After that it's a shuttle back to Eureka so you can head home.
