The ride takes you over a pass, down to the John Day River, and finishes in the small town of Monument. It's a challenging first day with real elevation changes to contend with. - Meals

- Day 2Monument to Prairie CityThis morning you're riding through orchards and ranches alongside the John Day River as a warm-up before the landscape shifts dramatically. Colorful rock formations and fossils come into view as you climb, then you'll pass through juniper forests and ghost towns. By late afternoon, after descending through ponderosa pines, you'll reach Prairie City with Strawberry Mountain Wilderness visible in the distance. - Meals

- Day 3Prairie CityYou're doing a full century loop today from Prairie City along the eastern section of the Old West Scenic Bikeway, covering over 100 miles. Two mile-high summits sit along this mountainous route, offering views in all directions. You'll stay another night in Prairie City to recover after this big day. - Meals

- Day 4Prairie City to Baker CityToday brings three high passes through the southern Blue Mountains as you navigate through mostly abandoned towns and quiet country. The scenery is dramatic throughout, and the day ends with a descent into Baker City. This historic gold rush town sits surrounded by snowcapped peaks, making for a striking finish after a tough, challenging ride. - Meals

- Day 5Baker City to Wallowa LakeAfter a morning shuttle to the quieter side of the hills, you'll ride beside the winding Wallowa River as it curves along the mountain foothills. Approaching Wallowa Lake, views open up to Eagle Cap Peak and around 30 other peaks over 8,000 feet. You'll end at Wallowa Lake Lodge for a two-night stay, with opportunities to spot deer and eagles along the shoreline. - Meals

- Day 6Wallowa LakeYou have the full day to yourself here. The Wallowa Lake Tramway goes up 3,700 feet if you want those views without pedaling. Swimming, hiking, canoeing, and paddleboarding are all options, or head into Joseph to check out art galleries, shops, and museums. There's a chocolate factory and local breweries to visit, and you can always relax at the lodge. If you're not ready for a break, two challenging mountain and road bike routes are available. - Meals

From there, you can look down into North America's deepest river gorge. After taking that in, you'll descend to the Snake River at the bottom, then climb back up to reach Halfway and Pine Valley Lodge for the night. - Meals

It's a relaxed day after the previous climb, and you'll stay another night at Pine Valley Lodge to think back on everything from the week. - Meals

- Day 9Halfway to BoiseOn your final morning, you're riding through Idaho's high forested plains heading south with one last long descent ahead. After completing a week of cycling through some rugged and remote country, you'll take a short shuttle into Boise to wrap up your adventure. - Meals
