- Day 1
Yogyakarta
You'll arrive in Yogyakarta early morning where a local rep meets you for the drive to Kraton, the Sultan's Palace. This 18th-century structure showcases traditional Javanese architecture, and you'll walk through the palace rooms and chambers before hopping into a becak (pedicab) heading to Taman Sari, the Water Palace once built for the Sultan's harem. After grabbing lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon takes you to a traditional Batik fabric workshop and then to Kotagede, a 16th-century silver-producing village. By late afternoon, you'll check out Prambanan's ancient Hindu temples from the 9th century, where three inner shrines honor Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.

Yogyakarta
Start with breakfast at your hotel, then head to Magelang to see Borobudur, the world's largest Buddhist temple and a UNESCO Heritage site. Your guide explains how thousands of volcanic and river stone blocks came together over 75 years to build this place. You'll pedal through the rural countryside by bicycle to reach a peaceful village where you can see local houses and plantation life, plus have a refreshing coconut drink. Next come the Mendut temple with its three carved stone statues and the symmetrical Pawon temple. Lunch happens at a local restaurant with rice field views. Back in Yogyakarta by late afternoon, you'll visit Alun Alun Kidul to try the Masangin game, then finish the evening with a special royal family dinner at Dalem Joyokusumo, a historic royal house.

Yogyakarta to Tosari
After breakfast, transfer to Yogyakarta train station to board the morning Sancaka executive class train heading to Mojokerto in East Java. You'll arrive at noon after taking in scenic views along the way. From there, your driver takes you to Tosari village, which sits about four hours away. Before getting there, you'll stop in Trowulan to explore what was once the capital of the Majapahit Empire from 1293 to 1500 AD, a Hindu empire that controlled 98 tributaries at its peak. Lunch happens at Pasuruan harbour in a charming fishing village where you can watch traditional wooden boats and local fishermen at work. Tosari sits at about 1,700 metres altitude on the outskirts of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park where temperatures stay cool year-round. Check in to your hotel and settle in for dinner.

Bromo to Kalibaru
Wake up very early around 4 AM to depart by 4x4 Jeep for a sunrise tour of Mount Bromo. After about 40 minutes you'll reach Penanjakan where a private tent and hot coffee or tea wait while you watch the Bromo volcano. The sun rises behind the volcano, then you continue by Jeep down to the caldera and walk to the rim of the still-active crater. Back at your hotel for breakfast and checkout, then a 6-hour drive takes you to Kalibaru on a quiet hillside with views of Mrawan Mountain and Gumitir Valley. Lunch stops somewhere along the route. After checking in to your hotel, the rest of your day is yours to relax before dinner (75°F/24°C).

Kalibaru to Ijen
After breakfast, visit a Kalibaru plantation to see how Indonesians grow coffee, cocoa, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, and pepper alongside tropical fruits. You'll breathe in the fresh morning air and watch the process of turning palm flowers into coconut sugar. Back at your hotel for lunch, then continue to Ketapang at Java's eastern tip. Check in to your hotel in Ijen with the rest of the day free to do as you like.

Ijen to Ubud
Breakfast at your hotel, then transfer to Baluran National Park, a 25,000-hectare wildlife reserve with 40 kilometres of coastline featuring mangroves, beaches, and coral reefs. The park has diverse ecosystems with Javanese wild ox, deer, feral water buffalo, and over 100 bird species despite its relatively small size. You'll return to your hotel to rest before lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, head to Bali via Pemuteran and check in to your hotel in Ubud, located in the heart of the island.

Ubud
Breakfast at your hotel, then depart to Gunung Kawi temple at Tampak Siring village on the River Pakerisan. This 11th-century archaeological complex is carved from living rock and offers beautiful views. You'll descend approximately 315 stone steps through spectacular rice terraces to reach it. From there, continue to Tirta Empul temple, famous for its holy water where Balinese worshipers have come for over 1,000 years. Natural spring water bathing pools feature ancient Balinese designs. Head to Kintamani for panoramic views of Lake Batur and Mount Batur volcano, the most active volcano in Bali surrounded by an impressive caldera. A buffet lunch lets you take in the scenery. After eating, join an exclusive 4x4 Land Cruiser adventure across the black lava slopes of the active volcano, crossing the lava from 1834 and 1964 eruptions, plus visiting a cave inside a lava flow. Return to your hotel in Ubud.

Ubud
Breakfast at your hotel, then drive to western Bali and the Tabanan regency known for its natural beauty. You'll arrive early at Jatiluwih, a spacious rice terrace area and UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012 because of its unique Subak irrigation system. Join a short walk through the rice fields breathing in the cool morning air. Head to Bedugul and stop at Candikuning, a colourful local market offering fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, and exotic flowers. Lunch happens at a private retreat villa by the lake with a set menu. Back in your air-conditioned vehicle, visit Alas Kedaton, a small forest inhabited by hundreds of monkeys locals believe are guardians of a well-preserved temple inside. End the day at Tanah Lot, Bali's most famous sight, a sea temple perched on a barren volcanic rock in the ocean sometimes pounded by huge waves. Transfer back to your hotel.

Ubud to Labuan Bajo (Komodo)
Early breakfast at your hotel before your morning flight to Labuan Bajo on Flores Island. Meet your guide and staff at Komodo Airport for a soft briefing, then transfer directly to the harbor to board the Semi/Superior Phinisi boat. Head to Kelor Island with lunch served on the boat. Trek to the top of Kelor Island for views, then return and continue to Menjerite for snorkeling and swimming. Sail to Kalong Island to see thousands of bats flying out from their roosts. Catch the sunset from the boat, then sail to Padar Island for the overnight stay on the boat.

Wake up early at 5 AM to trek to the top of Padar Island for sunrise views and photo opportunities. Return to the boat for breakfast, then depart to Loh Liang on Komodo Island. Trek to see Komodo Dragons and other animals like wild pigs and deer. Head to Pink Beach for snorkeling and swimming, then enjoy lunch on the boat while cruising to Taka Makassar for more snorkeling. Move on to Manta Point for snorkeling and swimming with Manta rays if weather and wildlife cooperate. In the afternoon, sail to Gili Lawa Island and stay overnight on the boat.
