    Shanghai

    Start at the Shanghai Museum to see ancient Chinese art collections, then walk through Yu Garden and check out its traditional bazaar. After grabbing lunch at a local restaurant, you'll take a one-hour cruise on the Huangpu River to see the city's modern skyline from the water. Finish the day at Tianzifang, an old cultural street where you can walk around and see local shops and galleries.

    The morning is free for you to explore on your own pace. Your guide and driver will pick you up and head to the airport for an early afternoon flight to Guilin. When you arrive, a local guide meets you and takes you to your hotel to settle in.

    Guilin

    Begin at Reed Flute Cave to see stalactites and rock formations underground. Head to Seven Star Park next, where you'll find hills, clear water, and caves. Later you'll check out Elephant Trunk Hill, a well-known spot with over 1,000 years of history. End the day at Fubo Hill to see the scenery and historical stone carvings carved into the rocks.

    Guilin to Yangshuo

    You'll spend about four hours on a cruise down the Li River, with your guide pointing out famous spots along the way. Lunch is a simple box lunch provided on the boat, so eat a hearty breakfast beforehand. After arriving in Yangshuo, walk through West Street and then head into the countryside to visit a local farmer's home. You'll have time to explore Yangshuo town later in the evening.

    Chengdu

    Start at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, about 30 minutes from downtown. Afterward, stroll through the Broad and Narrow Alleys at your own pace to see old architecture and local shops. Then visit Jinsha Site Museum to see gold items from archaeological digs, including the Gold Foil of Sun and Immortal Bird and the Gold Mask.

    Your guide takes you to the railway station for a high-speed train to Xi'an, roughly 4 hours of travel. Once you arrive, a local guide meets you and you check into the hotel. After getting settled, head to Shaanxi Provincial History Museum to see rare historic treasures and artifacts. Later, visit Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, a brick structure built in the 7th century that originally held Buddhist scriptures brought from India.

    Xi'an

    Travel outside downtown to see the Terracotta Army, three massive burial pits built by Emperor Qinshihuang, the first emperor to unite China. From there, go to the ancient City Wall surrounding the old city, which stretches 13,700 meters and stands 14 meters high. You can rent a bicycle to ride on top of the wall if you want (rental is at your own cost). End the day at the Great Mosque, one of the oldest and largest mosques, which remains a center for religious life.
