We recommend to bring a day backpack during the tour but it's possible to bring your carryon suitcase but you need to pick them up after getting the Aguas Calientes town. The train company will charge you extra but it's possible.

Asked on August 25th, 2024Seeking customized itinerary to Machu Picchu for 2 couples. We have been told that we should plan to do an overnight at a higher altitude on the first day, in order to help us adjust to the altitude change before traveling to Machu Picchu on day two. Would appreciate a recommended itinerary with a quote per couple for a complete package.

To reach Machu Picchu first you need to reach Cusco region. First you need to take a flight from Lima to Cusco and then travel by car from Cusco city to Ollantaytambo train station, then by train to Aguas Calientes, and finally a bus to Machu Picchu, and to return you need to follow the same route to reach Cusco. We think the days that you have won't be enough to visit Machu Picchu.
