Itinerary
- Day 1
Lhasa
You'll arrive in Lhasa by train or flight, and your guide will meet you for the transfer to your hotel. During the drive, there's a chance you'll catch views of the Yarlung Tsangpo River and Lhasa River along the way. The rest of the day is for settling in and letting your body adjust to the high altitude. If you're feeling okay after arrival, head over to Potala Square where the colorful fountains make for good photos, and you'll get your first look at Potala Palace from ground level.

Lhasa
Start the day at Drepung Monastery, which was Tibet's largest and once had over 10,000 monks living there. Your guide will walk you through the Coqen Hall and explain the history of Tibetan Buddhism. You'll also tour the Loseling College to see how monks actually study and live day to day. Later in the afternoon, head to Sera Monastery to watch the monk debates, which is how monks test their knowledge and advance their training. Wrap up the evening with a welcome dinner together with your group.

Lhasa
After breakfast, you'll visit Potala Palace and climb to the heights where you can see across Lhasa from above. Your guide shares the stories behind the Dalai Lamas and takes you through the halls and treasures inside. From there, stop at Longwangtan Park at the palace's base for more views and to experience traditional Tibetan culture. In the afternoon, head to the sacred Jokhang Temple to see the 12-year-old statue of Shakyamuni Buddha. You'll then walk clockwise around Barkhor Street and watch local Tibetans going about their prayers and rituals. End with a stop at a traditional Tibetan tea house where you'll have sweet tea and chat with your guide about daily life in Lhasa.
