Arrival in San Jose
You'll land at Juan Santamaria International Airport where someone from the meet and greet service will be waiting for you. From there, they'll drive you to your hotel in San Jose for the night.

San Jose to Puerto Viejo
After breakfast at the hotel, head to the lobby to meet the car rental representative and pick up your vehicle. You'll drive yourself toward Puerto Viejo, passing through Braulio Carrillo National Park where you'll see rainforest and small Caribbean villages along the way. By afternoon you'll reach your hotel, leaving the rest of the day open for exploring on your own or trying optional activities like horseback riding or a canopy tour.

Puerto Viejo

You can go snorkeling or hike through Cahuita National Park, which has Costa Rica's most important coral reef, or simply wander around on your own. The afternoon stays free so you can either relax or fit in another optional activity if you want.

Landmarks Cahuita National Park - Day 4
Puerto Viejo to Turrialba
Have breakfast and then drive to Turrialba, which takes about four hours from where you are. Once you arrive, the rest of the day is open for you to check out the surrounding area or just hang out at the hotel. This is a good time to prepare mentally for the more active options available tomorrow.

Turrialba
Fuel up with breakfast before heading out for the day. If you opt in, you'll spend your time on the Pacuare River doing a white-water rafting trip that's one of Costa Rica's best. You'll paddle through thrilling rapids while taking in the natural scenery, waterfalls, and tropical wildlife all around you.

Turrialba to San Gerardo de Dota
After breakfast, drive to San Gerardo de Dota in Los Quetzales National Park, a cloud forest where the famous quetzal bird lives. The rest of your day is free for you to explore or join optional canyoneering and canopy tour activities that include rappelling down waterfalls, zip-lining, and crossing a hanging bridge.

San Gerardo de Dota to Manuel Antonio
After breakfast, drive down the Pan-American Highway to San Isidro de El General, then continue on the South Pacific route heading toward Quepos, which sits just outside Manuel Antonio National Park. Check into your hotel in the afternoon and you'll have time to walk around this coastal area before evening.

Landmarks Manuel Antonio National Park 

- Day 9
Manuel Antonio
Start with breakfast, then head into Manuel Antonio National Park on your own. You'll hike a flat trail that loops through the park for about two miles, stopping at Third Beach to swim and rest. Along the trail watch for sloths, monkeys, birds, reptiles, wild orchids, and butterflies.

Departure from Manuel Antonio
