Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    You'll be picked up at Kathmandu airport and driven to your hotel. The ride gives you an immediate sense of Nepalese life with the chaos of traffic, street vendors, and colorful rickshaws all around you. Get settled in and rest up before the trek starts.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding

    After breakfast, you're flying from Kathmandu to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla. From there, the real trekking begins as you head down toward Phakding. The trail follows the DudhKosi Valley and involves a steady climb to reach your first overnight stop.

  3. Day 3

    Phakding to Namche Bazaar

    Today starts by crossing the DudhKosi Valley on a suspension bridge, then hiking uphill past small coffee shops in Chumoa. You'll walk through forested sections and pass through local villages as the trail gets steeper. The final two hours push you up to Namche Bazaar, the heart of the Sherpa region.

  4. Day 4

    Namche Bazaar

    This day is built in for acclimatization, so you'll stay put in Namche Bazaar. You can rest at your guest house or take an optional hike to Syangboche Everest View Hotel if you're feeling up to it. From there you'll get clear views of Mt. Everest, Amadablam, Thamserku, and Lhotse.

  5. Day 5

    Namche Bazaar to Phorse

    The trail rolls gently up and down as you trek through areas where musk deer and pheasants roam. You'll drop down to DudhKoshi Khola and then climb back up through rhododendron forests toward Phorse. The mountain views of Tawache and Cholaste come into focus as you arrive.

  6. Day 6

    Phorse to Machherma

    From your current spot, the trail takes you through forests, past waterfalls, and over bridges to reach Dole. After that, you're climbing steadily along a ridge that sits above the DudhKoshi River, passing through small settlements on your way to Machherma. There's an optional stop at the Himalayan Rescue Hospital if you want to check it out.

  7. Day 7

    Machherma to Gokyo

    The path climbs with good sightlines to Kantega and Cho-oyu, then drops down to the river before heading up toward Ngozamba Glacier. You'll pass several alpine lakes, including Longpongo, Raboche Tsho, and Dudh Pokhari, before reaching Gokyo Lake at the end of the day.

  8. Day 8

    Gokyo

    Start early and tackle the steep climb up Gokyo Ri. The effort pays off with views across Gokyo Lake backed by the mountains. You can spend time taking photos and soaking it in, then head back down to Gokyo for the rest of the day to recover or wander around the lake.

  9. Day 9

    Gokyo to Thangana

    The trek crosses some ups and downs over glacier terrain before descending into the valley toward Thangana base camp. The landscape is impressive, so bring your camera. You'll get great shots of the surrounding peaks from various points along the route.

  10. Day 10

    Thangana to Dzongla

    Today involves crossing Cho La Pass, which means walking on a glacier. It's not technical, but the steep slope has iced-over rocks that need careful footing. Once you summit the pass, you'll take in the panoramic views before descending through crevasses and pine trees down to Dzongla. Multiple viewpoints along the way give you chances to stop and look around.

  11. Day 11

    Dzongla to Lobuche

    This is one of the easier days on the trek with a nice walk through the highlands. You'll have clear views of Ama Dablam, Nuptse-Lhotse, Everest, Pumori, and Lobuche Peak. You end up in the small village of Lobuche near a stream, which is a good spot to watch the sun set over Nuptse.

  12. Day 12

    Lobuche to Everest Base Camp to Gorak Shep

    You're hiking uphill to Everest Base Camp on a glacier trail. Once there, you'll see frozen lakes scattered around and the dramatic Khumbu Icefall looming above. After soaking it all in, you'll descend to Gorak Shep where you'll spend the night.

  13. Day 13

    Gorak Shep to Kalapatthar to Tengboche

    Get up early to hike Kalapatthar Peak for the best Everest views on the whole trek. Take plenty of photos at the top, then head down. The descent to Tengboche feels much easier after working your way up. Along the trail, you'll see carved mani stones and patches of colorful rhododendrons.

  14. Day 14

    Tengboche to Namche Bazaar

    The trail is mostly downhill today as you make your way back to Namche Bazaar. You'll continue seeing Buddhist heritage markers and rhododendron forests along the route. It's a chance to recover your legs before the final stretch back.

  15. Day 15

    Namche Bazaar to Lukla

    Your last day on the trail brings you back down to Lukla, where the trek started weeks earlier. The downhill trek gives you time to reflect on everything you've seen.

  16. Day 16

    Lukla to Kathmandu

    You'll fly from Lukla back to Kathmandu and get transferred to your hotel. After the trek, you can either rest and recover or start exploring the city with help from your team. They'll give you a map, recommendations, and can arrange taxis to get around.

    Today is unscheduled, so you can choose between resting or walking around Kathmandu at your own pace. Your team is available to help arrange visits to temples and monuments or book transportation. The city has plenty of Hindu and Buddhist temples worth seeing if you're up for exploring.

    Kathmandu

    Kathmandu Departure

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before February 12th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 12th, 2026, a minimum payment of 30% is required to confirm your booking with Himalayan Trekking & Tours. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
