- Day 1
Madrid to San Sebastian
You'll head out from Madrid hotels toward Zaragoza this morning. Once there, you have free time to check out the Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Pilar and walk through the old streets at your own pace. In the afternoon, you continue on to San Sebastian, which sits on Spain's northern coast and hosts the famous International Film Festival. You'll stay overnight in San Sebastian.

San Sebastian
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll take a panoramic tour of San Sebastian. The city spreads around the Bay with La Concha Beach as its focal point. Later, you'll head up Mount Igueldo where the views across the city and coastline are really worth the trip. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you like, or you can visit the nearby villages of Hondarribia and San Juan de Luz across the border in France if you prefer.

San Sebastian to Santander
You'll have breakfast, then travel to Bilbao for a panoramic tour of the city. After that, you have free time to walk around the esplanade of the Guggenheim Museum and take in this striking modern building. From there, you head to Castro Urdiales, a working fishing village where you can spend time exploring. Later in the day you reach Santander, and a local guide shows you around this port city set between the sea and mountains, pointing out spots like the famous El Sardinero beach.

Santander to Oviedo
Following breakfast at your hotel, you head to Santillana del Mar, a town that's considered one of Spain's most historically important places. You'll see architectural treasures like the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana as you walk around. Next you travel to Covadonga where you can visit the Sanctuary and grotto of the Virgin. In the afternoon, you drive to Oviedo, situated on hills with nice pedestrian streets throughout. A visit to the Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and significant example of Asturian Gothic architecture, rounds out the day.

Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela
After breakfast, you head toward Galicia in the northwest. You'll stop in Mondoñedo to see its large 12th-century cathedral and try the local Mondoñedo cake, which is quite good. Continuing on, you reach Lugo to walk along its Roman walls, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Finally you arrive in Santiago de Compostela, where the old city center is itself a World Heritage Site and one of Spain's major monumental areas, known as the endpoint of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route.

Santiago de Compostela
You'll start with breakfast at your hotel. The morning includes a city tour where you see the Plaza del Obradoiro and the Cathedral dedicated to Santiago el Mayor, with entrance included in your tour. The rest of the day is free for you to keep exploring this university city, which has a lively student atmosphere and lots to see on your own.

Santiago de Compostela to Porto/Salamanca
Through March 31, 2026, you'll visit the Rías Bajas region and the island of La Toja with free time before heading to Porto. From April 1, 2026 onwards, you'll go to Salamanca instead, a university city and World Heritage Site known for its architectural and artistic importance. You'll have free time to explore the city. Later you either stay overnight in Porto (until March 31) or in Salamanca (from April 1), then continue to Porto the next day if you're in Salamanca.

Porto/Salamanca to Porto
Until March 31, 2026, you'll take a panoramic tour of Porto, which is a World Heritage city. You'll enjoy a Douro River cruise and visit a Port Wine Cellar for tasting. The rest of the day is free to explore on your own. From April 1, 2026 onwards, you'll have breakfast in Salamanca with free time, then depart toward the Portuguese border and arrive in Porto. You stay overnight in Porto.

Porto
After breakfast at your hotel, you take a panoramic sightseeing tour of Porto. You'll see the Cathedral, the Stock Exchange building, and Santa Clara church. The tour also takes you along the Douro River so you get a different view of the city from the water. You'll visit a well-known Port Wine Cellar where you can taste different wines. The rest of the day is yours to relax and wander around at your own pace.

Porto to Fatima
After breakfast, you travel to Coimbra, home to one of Europe's oldest universities and where Fado music originated. You have free time to explore the city and its surroundings. Later you continue to Fátima, a major Christian pilgrimage site with an impressive Basilica and the Cova da Iria where the Virgin Mary appeared. You can visit the Chapel of the Apparitions and see where the three shepherds are buried. If you're interested, there's an optional candlelight procession in the evening.

Fatima to Lisbon
You'll have breakfast at your hotel before heading to the Batalha Monastery, a striking example of Gothic and Manueline architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From there, you go to Nazaré, a charming fishing town on the coast where you have time to walk around. Next is Alcobaça, also a World Heritage Site, featuring a Gothic church and Cistercian monastery from the 12th century. Finally, you drive to Lisbon, arriving in time for overnight accommodation.

The afternoon is yours to explore neighborhoods like Alfama on your own, or you can join an optional excursion to the World Heritage Sites of Sintra and Cascais if that interests you.

Lisbon to Cordoba
Following breakfast, you head toward Mérida, the capital of Extremadura. This World Heritage Site has well-preserved Roman ruins including a theater, amphitheater, and Roman bridge. You'll have free time to walk around and see these ancient remains. After that, you continue to Córdoba, which was once the capital of the Caliphate, and you stay overnight there.

Cordoba to Seville
You'll start with breakfast at your hotel, then take a tour of the Mosque, which is now a Cathedral. Afterward, you walk through the narrow, winding streets of the Jewish Quarter. It's a short drive of about two hours from there to Seville, where you arrive for overnight accommodation.

Seville
After breakfast, you'll enjoy a monumental and panoramic city tour. The tour includes entrance to the Cathedral, which is the second largest in the Catholic world after St. Peter's in Rome. You'll see the Barrio de Santa Cruz, the neighborhood that inspired the stories of 'Carmen' and 'Don Juan,' as well as María Luisa Park and the Plaza de España. The afternoon is free, so you can explore different areas and try local food and drinks in this sun-filled, vibrant city.

After breakfast, you drive east through the old Caliphate road toward Andalusia, passing through areas with endless olive groves. You'll reach Granada and see its incredible monuments. As the last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdoms until 1492, the city has the Alhambra complex and Generalife Gardens, which inspired Washington Irving's 'Tales of the Alhambra.' In the evening, there's an optional Flamenco Zambra show if you want to experience traditional music and dance.

Granada to Valencia
After breakfast, you travel east to reach Valencia, one of Spain's main Mediterranean coastal cities. You'll explore the City of Arts and Sciences complex, a modern area with six notable buildings: the Hemispheric, Umbracle, Science Museum, Oceanogràfic, Palau de les Arts, and Ágora. Valencia is also where paella originated, so this is a good opportunity to try authentic versions of the dish.

Valencia to Barcelona
You'll have breakfast at your hotel, then take a morning city tour of Valencia's main old city buildings. You'll drive past the historic Turia riverbed and see the modern City of Arts and Sciences complex. In early afternoon, you head north along the Mediterranean coast toward Catalonia, passing through Tarragona, the ancient Roman Tarraco. You arrive in Barcelona, a major Mediterranean city known as the homeland of architect Gaudí and a symbol of Catalan modernism.

You also explore Montjuic Park with its views across the city, the Olympic Ring, and the Monument to Columbus. The afternoon is yours to continue exploring this city with its many attractions and excellent, varied food scene.
