Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Vienna
You'll arrive in Vienna at your own pace and check in starting at 3pm. Your organized activities kick off the next morning, so this gives you time to settle into your accommodation and maybe grab an early dinner if you're not too tired from travel.
- Day 2
Vienna
After breakfast, you'll meet your guide around 10am for a walking tour hitting Vienna's major landmarks like the Opera House, Hofburg Palace, Parliament, City Hall, and St. Stephen's Cathedral. The afternoon is yours to wander through about 11 Christmas markets spread around the city center. Later in the day, you can choose between a guided visit to the Spanish Riding School or catch a classical music concert in a baroque church (both run about 1 to 1.5 hours). If you're up for it, Vienna Opera or the Bermuda Triangle nightlife district are options for the evening.

Vienna
You'll have breakfast and then head to Schonbrunn Palace for a skip-the-line guided tour covering 22 state rooms, the grand 40-meter Great Gallery, the Hall of Ceremonies, the opulent grounds, and the hilltop Gloriette (the whole thing takes about 2.5 hours). During November and December, the famous Christmas Market operates right at Schonbrunn if you want to browse. The rest of your day is open for museums, concert halls, opera houses, or checking out the 11 Christmas markets scattered across the city.

Vienna to Salzburg
After breakfast, you'll check out and start driving toward Salzburg around 8am (roughly 3 hours). Once there, your time is free to see Hohensalzburg Fortress, the Mozart Museum, or sit down at Augustiner Brau beerhall to drink European beer either in the historic monastery or outside in the garden. A Sound of Music tour is available if that interests you. When you're ready to leave Salzburg, you'll handle your own departure.
