Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Whitehorse

    Your guide will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in downtown Whitehorse. After you get settled, the rest of your day is open so you can wander around the city on your own and get a feel for the place.

    • Visit the longest wooden fish ladder in the world
    • Explore the Beringia Centre for a glimpse of pre-historic Yukon and Alaska
    • Visit the Yukon Transportation Museum
    • Visit MacBride's Museum of Yukon history
    • Visit the SS Klondike National Historic Site, a restored sternwheeler located next to the Yukon River

  2. Day 2

    Whitehorse to Skagway to Chilkoot Trail (Finnegan's Point)

    You'll travel by road to Skagway using the Klondike Highway, which cuts through the Coast Mountains with some really nice views along the way. Once there, you'll spend time walking through the historic gold rush town before starting a roughly 3-hour hike on the Chilkoot Trail. By evening, you'll reach Finnegan's Point campsite, which has views looking toward Irene Glacier.

  3. Day 3

    Chilkoot Trail (Finnegan's Point to Sheep Camp)

    This day involves continuing through rainforest terrain and crossing creeks as you follow the Taiya River. You'll pass through the Rock Garden meadow and check out Canyon City, where you can see what's left of this former gold rush settlement. After crossing a suspension bridge, you'll arrive at Sheep Camp by late afternoon.

  4. Day 4

    Chilkoot Trail (Sheep Camp to Happy Camp)

    Today's the toughest stretch of the hike, so you'll start early after breakfast. The route takes you through the Enchanted Forest before the big challenge: climbing the Golden Stairs, which are steep at 40 degrees. You'll cross into Canada at over 1100 meters elevation, then descend to Happy Camp in the late afternoon.

    Chilkoot Trail (Happy Camp to Lake Lindeman)

    You'll hike from Happy Camp to Lake Lindeman, and this section is considered by many to be the best part of the entire trail. The terrain is mostly flat, which gives you a chance to really take in the views. You'll pass Deep Lake and then descend along Moose Creek to reach your campsite.

  6. Day 6

    Chilkoot Trail (Lake Lindeman to Lake Bennett) to Whitehorse

    On your final hiking day, you'll reach Lake Bennett with great views of British Columbia's landscape. After exploring the historic gold rush community ruins there, you'll board a 45-minute float plane for the scenic flight back to Whitehorse. Once you land, head to your hotel, take a hot shower, and enjoy dinner at a restaurant with your guide.

    We are considering booking this trek - We are 2 "senior citizen" 65 y.o, quite fit. Do we need to carry the tents and the food? Just worried about a heavy back pack.

      You would have to carry your own gear (15-18kg). We had to change this year's itinerary due to maintenance work on the trails on the US side.

The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
