Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Whitehorse

    Your guide picks you up at the airport and drives you to your hotel in downtown Whitehorse. The afternoon is yours to settle in, sort through your gear, and grab anything you might have forgotten before things get going.

  2. Day 2

    Whitehorse to Quiet Lake

    Early morning departure heading east on the Alaska Highway, then turning north onto South Canol Road, a remote gravel stretch through isolated terrain. You'll reach Quiet Lake and spend time working on canoe strokes and technique. Depending on conditions, you either paddle further or camp at the territorial campground for the night.

  3. Days 3 - 13

    Big Salmon River Canoe Expedition

    Twelve days paddling down the Big Salmon River from start to finish. The route starts calm through lakes and streams where you'll refine your skills, then picks up speed through Class II rapids with tight turns. You camp on gravel bars in the wilderness, watch for wildlife and fish, and can hike to viewpoints in the Big Salmon Range for chances to spot Dall sheep. The paddle ends when you reach the Yukon River and continue to Carmacks.

    • Navigate Class II river sections with guide instruction
    • Wildlife viewing from river banks and eddies

    • Day hike to hills for views of Pelly Mountains and Tintina Trench
    • Dall sheep viewing on mountain slopes

  4. Day 14

    Carmacks to Whitehorse

    Arrive in Carmacks either the night before or late morning. A shuttle meets you in the morning and drives you back to Whitehorse via the Klondike Highway, about two hours. After a hot shower at your hotel, the rest of the evening is open for walking around town.

For tours departing after January 5th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Ruby Range Adventure. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
