What people love about touring Annapurna Circuit solo
- Annapurna Circuit Trek
I did a 13 day trek round the Annapurna Circuit with Apex the Asia and can't speak highly enough about them. Ramesh dealt with the booking and was very professional, he tailored the trip around the dates I needed and I was able to hire some equipment from them to save buying it myself. I was lucky enough to have Gyanu as my guide and he is excellent, if you do any trek in Nepal you have to go with Gyanu! He has so much experience and knowledge about the area and during the trek I learnt so much from him about Nepal. His experience is shown by the amount of people we met on the trek who he knew, from other guides/porters to guesthouse owners, and it was obvious the amount of respect that everybody had for him. He was constantly looking out for me, making sure I was OK, and his level of care went way above what I expected. Above all he is the most friendly and warm person, it was a pleasure to spend 13 days in his company! Thanks Gyanu (and Ramesh), I will see you next time I am back in Nepal!
- 15 Days Annapurna Circuit trek (Thorong La Pass trek)
I recently completed the Annapurna circuit trek at the end of March and am already dreaming of when I can come back! This was my second time in Nepal and again I chose Nepal Trekking Routes after having an amazing experience three years ago trekking to Everest base camp in a group. This time, I was traveling solo and started with the goal to spend my 35th birthday in the beautiful Himalayas. Right from the beginning, Shailesh was very helpful in explaining the different routes and options and he frequently checked in to see if I had any questions or concerns. He was flexible when a friend wanted to join me for a few additional trekking days at the end of my trip and was happy to make all arrangements at short notice. My guide Nawin and porter Binod were amazing; making sure I felt safe at all times and successfully made it across Thorang la pass. On the many challenging days I was grateful to have their company and expertise and I know I couldn’t have done it without them. Nawin’s knowledge of the route and mountains is second-to-none and he happily answered my countless questions. Having a knowledgeable guide also meant that I could avoid the sketchier sections along the trial, knew what to look out for (falling rocks!) and know when to head off from the main road and onto the trail - all things which I imagine would be hard if you were travelling by yourself. I always felt like I had options on when to stop and rest and an effort was made to ensure I had the best rooms and accommodation. It was also the little personal touches such as fresh fruit with dinner every day that made this trip so special. The trek itself is amazing and I would recommend to anyone seeking adventure and beauty! The peaceful mountainscapes are forever etched in my mind and I’ll never forget the adventure of sliding down the mountains after the pass, looking out onto Annapurna II, seeing a huge avalanche (from a safe distance!) and the crazy-winding roads back from Muktinath. Thank you Nepal Trekking Routes for providing me with an experience I’ll never forget - I can’t wait until I can return!!

“Trek was physically challenging at times but worth it. Views were spectacular. Our guide Ram was wonderful as were our porters. Food was good and the tea houses were basic but comfortable.”
What our customers ask about Annapurna Circuit Tours for Solo Travelers
As a solo traveler, how much interaction can I expect with local communities along the Annapurna Circuit?
The Annapurna Circuit offers rich opportunities to connect with local communities. Travelers spend nights in family-operated teahouses and walk through traditional Gurung and Thakali villages where daily life unfolds. Cultural centers like Manang and Muktinath provide natural settings for meaningful exchanges. A TourRadar traveler review notes: "The hospitality of the people in small hamlets villages and towns along the trek was remarkable. We got to experience the diversity of Nepali culture firsthand through visits to monasteries sharing meals with locals and learning about their traditions from our guide."
What safety measures are in place for solo travelers on guided Annapurna Circuit tours?
Tour operators maintain strict safety protocols on the circuit. Each group travels with government-certified guides who carry oxygen meters to check altitude adaptation. Lodges such as Marsyangdi Lodge in Manang keep staff available around the clock. Emergency evacuation support is standard on guided tours. A TourRadar traveler noted: "Our guide was extremely knowledgeable always monitoring our health and acclimatization. They went above and beyond at every opportunity to ensure our safety particularly when crossing Thorong La Pass."
What size are the typical trekking groups and how does this affect solo travelers?
The social nature of the Annapurna Circuit makes it well-suited for solo travelers. Guided groups usually consist of 4-8 people trekking together for 15-21 days. Evenings bring trekkers together in common areas at places like Hotel Paradise in Manang and Mountain View Guesthouse in Muktinath. As one TourRadar traveler observed: "We felt like we were a team devoted to getting over Thorung La pass together."
How do meal arrangements work for solo travelers in teahouses?
Teahouses serve as social hubs where trekkers gather for meals. Tours typically cover three daily meals with options ranging from local specialties to Western dishes. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The food was fantastic and sharing meals with other trekkers in the teahouses created great camaraderie."
How do guided tours accommodate different fitness levels among solo travelers?

These seasons provide the best balance of social interaction and hiking conditions.
