What people love about touring Tanzania solo
- Tanzania 7days safari
This trip exceeded all our expectations. I was very impressed with Nuhu who helped us plan this trip. His attention to detail is top notch. We had an amazing trip to Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro National Parks. We saw many animals; all big 5, lucky sighting of a leopard, wild dogs and rhinoceros. We stayed at Zara Lodges and Camps and they were all fantastic. I give all five points for an excellent trip. Fantastic from start to finish
- Climb Kilimanjaro- Marangu 6 Days + Free Natural Hot Springs Tour (Chemka) | Expert Guides & Eco-Certified
Trekking up Mt. Kilimanjaro with my brother and sister supported by the World Adventure Tours climbing team was the experience of a lifetime. We decided to use the 5 day Marangu route as we have some experience. The booking process was a smooth experience that was made easy by the friendliness and professionalism of the reservations team. The climb was not easy but the support of the professional, cheerful, helpful, and encouraging guides coupled with excellent climbing equipment played a big part in the success of our trek. I remember the summit night because it was the most difficult section of the trek and I would not have made it to the summit without the support of Alex my guide and would have missed the wonderful experience of watching the glorious sunrise from the roof of Africa. I recommend World Adventure Tours as they are an amazing company with great equipment and professionals for crew. Closing remarks: Rent the chemical toilet and avoid the fuss at the public toilets!
- Northern Tanzania Luxury Safari
My wife and I spent 6 days exploring Tanzania’s Northern Circuit parks of Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire with Peter our experienced guide on the 6 days safari by Zara Tours. Prior to selecting Zara, I had requested for several quotes from some of the other leading operators in Tanzania but they did not impress like Zara who had great reviews and fantastic recommendations. In addition their cost was the closest to the budget we had set aside for our 15th anniversary celebration. Zara was impressive from the start, when we landed at KIA the representative was there with a poster with our names and we were quickly taken to Springlands Hotel in Moshi and surprised with a complimentary bottle of wine and beautiful flowers in our room. I was so happy with their attention to detail such as remembering the date of our anniversary which I had only mentioned in passing in one of my emails. Peter did an amazing job of guiding us through the parks with his many years’ experience he knew so much about wildlife, plants, local tribes and readily shared his knowledge with us, describing everything in detail such that by the end of our safari we felt like some experts of sorts about Tanzania. He was a careful driver and very observant, I recall him pointing us to a leopard camouflaged up a tree which we had not picked even with our binoculars. We saw a huge number of different animals because he would radio other guides in the parks and get the coordinates of where to find the animals. Some of the remarkable sightings include a lions taking a nap under our vehicle in Ngorongoro, the rare black rhinos in Ngorongoro too, a cheetah hunting an antelope in Serengeti and encountering huge herds made up of wildebeest, Zebras and antelopes with cheetahs and lions in tow in Serengeti. Aside from the parks we also visited the Olduvai Gorge where the fossils of stone-age man were discovered and a Maasai herders homestead. We had great accommodations all through our safari from Springlands in Moshi, Highway View Motel, Serengeti Wildcamp and Ngorongoro Safari Lodge which had first class customer service, great food and comfortable/luxurious rooms. Our favourite must be the Serengeti Wildcamp which is located in the middle of Serengeti where the tents are in the bush and you get to experience the raw sights and sounds of Africa deep in the night. This was a feeling second to none! Our Safari was a great adventure and an eye opener about Tanzania. I think if you want to get a quality safari then it is best if you invest on an experienced operator like Zara Tours because they have the best in terms of manpower, vehicles, resources, having perfected their art over the years and yet their charges are very reasonable.
What our customers ask about Tanzania Tours for Solo Travelers
What's the typical group size for Tanzania tours suitable for solo travelers?
Tanzania tours keep groups small and manageable usually between 6 to 12 people. The Northern Circuit safari tours maintain a strict limit of 6 travelers per vehicle which gives everyone a clear view of wildlife. For those interested in climbing Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route groups usually include 8 to 10 climbers plus guides and porters. This size makes it easy to get to know your fellow travelers.
How experienced are the guides with solo travelers?
Tour guides in Tanzania come with extensive training in managing group dynamics and working with solo travelers. They're fluent in several languages including English German French and Spanish. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Our guide Maxwell turned our safari into an exciting odyssey through Tarangire Serengeti parks and Ngorongoro Crater. He was knowledgeable about all the animals and helped us communicate with the Maasai people."
What are the typical costs of single supplements on Tanzania safari tours?
Single room charges in Tanzania cost between 200 to 400 USD varying by accommodation quality. Some places like Serena Safari Lodge and Kibo Palace Hotel have rooms designed for solo guests. Several operators including Almighty Kilimanjaro don't charge extra for single tents. As one traveler noted on TourRadar: "I had my own spacious tent throughout the trek with no additional charges."
How are meal arrangements handled for solo travelers?
Group dining is standard practice in Tanzania creating natural opportunities to meet other travelers. At Millennium Camp on Kilimanjaro everyone eats together in a shared tent while places like Lake Burunge Tented Lodge set up group dining experiences. The kitchens adapt well to different dietary needs. One TourRadar review noted "the cook prepared excellent vegetarian options throughout the trek."
Which areas of Tanzania are most welcoming for solo travelers?
Tanzania's Northern Circuit especially around Arusha and Moshi offers a welcoming environment for solo travelers. Places like Serengeti Wild Camps and Highview Hotel in Karatu feature social spaces where travelers naturally gather. A TourRadar guest noted: "The staff at the camps/lodges was exceptional. They treated us like royalty attending to our every need." The village of Mto wa Mbu gives visitors chances to connect with locals through activities like banana beer tasting and cooking classes.
What kind of accommodations can solo travelers expect on Tanzania tours?
The best times to visit are June through October and December through March. During these months the weather suits outdoor activities and wildlife viewing is at its peak in places like the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. These busy seasons bring more travelers making social connections easier. A TourRadar visitor who went in July shared: "The weather was perfect while we were there and we saw all the Big 5 plus incredible migration scenes."
