What people love about South Italy Tours for Seniors
- Italian Concerto
We booked expecting to get a four star experience and got a three star tour thanks solely to the excellent effort of our tour guide Antonella. The first two hotels were two star but the hotel in Florence and Venice met our expectations. We got totally ripped off on a "five star" dining excursion in Maori - terrible food and service all for $200 Canadian per couple. Our coach and driver were excellent. The tour itinerary met our expectations. After looking at the other reviews we realize September / early October are busy months and Trafalgar will sacrifice the quality of your hotel experience to book extra tours and make the extra dollar - they added an extra coach to our tour (doubled the number of tourists) for our tour dates.
- Southern Italy and Sicily
Experienced an excellent tour led by the most knowledgeable, personable and professional tour director I have encountered over the course of 5 tours, 3 being with Trafalgar. Colleen is super efficient and this combined with her priority to satisfy each tour member's special needs, be they dietary, health-related or even pertaining to specialty shopping make her an extremely valuable asset to the Trafalgar family. Colleen took me to a pharmacy when my ankles swelled and tirelessly located several bookstores in various cities for me, all because she knew how important this was to me. She worked well with our professional driver Michele and kept us informed, entertained and educated about our surroundings, simultaneously. Colleen made this tour special and memorable for all 41 of us!
- Highlights of Sicily & Southern Italy
It was a good tour overall. The guide and bus driver were wonderful. None of the hotels shown on the website were the ones we stayed in. Some of the hotels were not first class and really outdated. The one in Sorrento was really disappointing. The temperature control was too hot and after numerous complaints they still would not lower the air conditioning. The room was very outdated and not very clean . I had to wear my flip flops as the floors were dirty. Some of the dinners provided were not very good. There is a lot of walking on this tour! A lot of it is uphill and over uneven terrain. They should outline in the brochure that if you have mobility issues this tour is not for you. Some of the days I didn’t wear my running shoes because I thought we were just going to a catherdral . It would have been nice if we knew that we had to climb 90 steps and walk over uneven rocks. We took a Globus tour of northern Italy last year and the hotels and food provided were far superior to this tour. The places we visited were beautiful and the tour guide Fabiola and our driver Julio were really great!
