    Most packages include the flight from Hanoi to Siem Reap. Start exploring the temples early before the intense heat kicks in at 10 AM. Enter Angkor Wat through the East Gate to avoid crowds. Visit Ta Prohm in late afternoon after tour groups leave. A recent visitor shares: "The stones at Bayon Temple get incredibly hot by midday.   • Days 1-2

    Siem Reap & Angkor Temples

    Get to Angkor Wat by 5:30 AM to watch the sunrise and avoid crowds and heat.     Take an early morning boat ride on Tonle Sap Lake to explore the floating villages. Water levels change a lot between seasons. During dry months from November to April boats might not reach all areas. The bus ride to Phnom Penh takes 6-7 hours. Pick seats on the right side for the best views of the Mekong.     Phnom Penh

    Visit the Royal Palace right when it opens at 8 AM. Remember to cover your shoulders. The Silver Pagoda inside has more than 5,000 silver floor tiles.     Phnom Penh to Chau Doc

    The border crossing between countries takes time so get your Vietnam visa before you travel. There's no visa-on-arrival option here. You'll spend about 5 hours on a speedboat with great views of the delta. Once in Chau Doc visit Ba Chua Xu Temple before sunset when locals come to pray.

    Chau Doc to Can Tho

    Start early for Tra Su Bird Sanctuary since birds are most active at dawn. The drive to Can Tho takes 3 hours through rural Mekong Delta areas. Stay near Ninh Kieu Wharf for easy access to tomorrow's floating market.

    Can Tho to Ho Chi Minh City

  • Day 1

    Hanoi

    Start in Vietnam's capital. The trip from Noi Bai Airport typically takes 40 minutes but can stretch longer during rush hour. Try to arrive in the afternoon if possible. Make your way to the Old Quarter to get your bearings. The narrow streets are especially lively in late afternoon when locals finish work.     Halong Bay

    Leave Hanoi around 8 AM for the 3.5-hour drive to Halong Bay. If you get seasick easily, bring motion sickness pills since the water can be rough. Your cruise includes lunch while you sail past limestone karsts. You'll explore Sung Sot Cave and take a swim at Titov Beach before dinner.     Halong Bay to Ho Chi Minh City

    Cu Chi Tunnels & Ho Chi Minh City

    Get to Cu Chi early to avoid crowds and heat. The tunnels get very warm by midday and it's about a 1.5-hour drive. Back in the city visit the War Remnants Museum after lunch. You can finish your day shopping at Ben Thanh Market where vendors often offer better prices close to closing time.

    Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap

    Take a morning flight to Siem Reap. Most hotels won't let you check in until 2 PM but you can store your bags and visit Tonle Sap Lake. The floating villages are most interesting in morning or late afternoon when fishing boats return. Remember to bring cash for boat vendors and sun protection since there's little shade.

    Angkor Archaeological Park

    Visit Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm in the morning when it's cooler. Plan to see the main Angkor Wat complex in the afternoon when there are fewer people. "Bring plenty of water and a battery pack for photos - you'll be out all day and there's limited shade or charging spots."

    Departure from Siem Reap
