7 Day Vietnam & Cambodia Itinerary, incl. Hanoi and Siem Reap
A 7-day cultural immersion through Vietnam and Cambodia takes you from Hanoi to the ancient Angkor temples. Drift through Ha Long Bay, ride traditional cyclos, and tour magnificent temples while staying at The Light Hotel Hanoi and Central Boutique Siem Reap, accompanied by English-speaking guides.
- Days 1-2
Hanoi, Vietnam
Head to Hanoi's Old Quarter in the early morning before the heat becomes intense. Visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum around 8 AM to avoid the crowds. Keep in mind it's closed on Mondays and Fridays. In the late afternoon when it's cooler, take a cyclo ride around Hoan Kiem Lake. One traveler shares: "The Temple of Literature was fascinating, but bring an umbrella for shade - the courtyard offers little coverage during midday tours."
- Days 3-4
Halong Bay
A shared van takes about 4 hours to reach Halong Bay from Hanoi. Pack light for your overnight cruise. The best views of the limestone karsts come early in the morning through the mist. Try to book a cabin on the upper deck for better views and less engine noise. The sunrise tai chi on deck is worth waking up for. A previous guest notes: "Bring a light jacket for the morning activities - it can be surprisingly cool on the water before 8 AM."
- Days 5-7
Siem Reap & Angkor Temples
Most packages include the flight from Hanoi to Siem Reap. Start exploring the temples early before the intense heat kicks in at 10 AM. Enter Angkor Wat through the East Gate to avoid crowds. Visit Ta Prohm in late afternoon after tour groups leave. A recent visitor shares: "The stones at Bayon Temple get incredibly hot by midday. Wear proper shoes and bring twice as much water as you think you'll need. The best photos are between 7-9 AM before harsh overhead sun."
7 Day Cambodia & Vietnam Itinerary, incl. Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh City
A captivating week in Cambodia and Vietnam brings you face-to-face with Angkor Wat temples and Tonle Sap Lake villages. Remarkable stops include Phnom Penh's landmarks, Mekong Delta cruising, and Cai Rang Market. Luxury awaits at Royal Angkor Resort and Victoria Chau Doc Hotel.
- Days 1-2
Siem Reap & Angkor Temples
Get to Angkor Wat by 5:30 AM to watch the sunrise and avoid crowds and heat. One traveler shared: "The guides kept to perfect timing with the temples, ensuring we avoided the worst of the midday sun." Wear sturdy shoes with good grip since Ta Prohm temple's root-covered ruins can be slippery in the morning dew.
- Day 3
Tonle Sap Lake to Phnom Penh
Take an early morning boat ride on Tonle Sap Lake to explore the floating villages. Water levels change a lot between seasons. During dry months from November to April boats might not reach all areas. The bus ride to Phnom Penh takes 6-7 hours. Pick seats on the right side for the best views of the Mekong. You'll have time for an evening walk by the river near the Royal Palace.
- Day 4
Phnom Penh
- Day 5
Phnom Penh to Chau Doc
- Day 6
Chau Doc to Can Tho
- Day 7
Can Tho to Ho Chi Minh City
7 Day Vietnam & Cambodia Itinerary, incl. Hanoi and Angkor Wat
The bustling Old Quarter of Hanoi marks the start of this 7-day cross-country adventure, followed by sailing through Halong Bay's limestone karsts. Venture into Cu Chi's underground tunnels, visit Ho Chi Minh City's War Remnants Museum, and marvel at UNESCO-listed Angkor Wat. Suitable for ages 3+, with 3-star accommodations and English-speaking guides.
- Day 1
Hanoi
Start in Vietnam's capital. The trip from Noi Bai Airport typically takes 40 minutes but can stretch longer during rush hour. Try to arrive in the afternoon if possible. Make your way to the Old Quarter to get your bearings. The narrow streets are especially lively in late afternoon when locals finish work. "Ta Hien street in the Old Quarter comes alive at sunset with locals and travelers sharing draft beer and street food."
- Day 2
Halong Bay
Leave Hanoi around 8 AM for the 3.5-hour drive to Halong Bay. If you get seasick easily, bring motion sickness pills since the water can be rough. Your cruise includes lunch while you sail past limestone karsts. You'll explore Sung Sot Cave and take a swim at Titov Beach before dinner. Wake up early for the best sunrise views over the bay.
- Day 3
Halong Bay to Ho Chi Minh City
After morning cruising you'll return to Hanoi for your flight south. Book an evening flight to avoid rushing from Halong. "Having a coordinator like Jenny check in via WhatsApp helped immensely with the logistics of moving between cities." When you arrive you can explore the busy streets around Ben Thanh Market.
- Day 4
Cu Chi Tunnels & Ho Chi Minh City
- Day 5
Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap
Take a morning flight to Siem Reap. Most hotels won't let you check in until 2 PM but you can store your bags and visit Tonle Sap Lake. The floating villages are most interesting in morning or late afternoon when fishing boats return. Remember to bring cash for boat vendors and sun protection since there's little shade.
- Day 6
Angkor Archaeological Park
- Day 7
Departure from Siem Reap

- Highlights Of Vietnam & Cambodia 7 Days - Hanoi City / Halong Bay / Siem Reap/Angkor
This was my 1st LVPTRAVEL trip and I will definitely be booking with them again. The guide was amazing and showed us some awesome spots. Also met some amazing friends
- Mekong River Adventure 7-Day
Guides and drivers were both really good. They were punctual and had good signs for the meet& greet at the airport. They kept to the advertised schedule of inclusions and sights with courteous planning for meal and toilet stops. Helpful advice and tips were freely provided for shopping, use of free time for additional sightseeing, finding ATM's etc. The guides had good English language and plenty of guiding information about the sights being visited. The drivers were careful in the traffic and always there to help with baggage handling. Hotel selection was good, with very comfortable, well located accommodation throughout the tour. All In all a most enjoyable holiday experience - we would definitely use them again and would recommend them to friends
