Thank you Showlanka for making our honeymoon so memorable and accommodating all our needs!
- Sri Lanka Real Food Adventure (including Yala National Park)
Great general tour of Sri Lanka. The guide, driver and helper were all fantastic. The tour is a bit pricey for what you get though in a country as cheap as SL. We paid about $2500 AUD for the 12 nights - over $200 per day. Also this isn't actually a 12 day tour, it's a 10 day tour. You will do nothing on the first day apart from a briefing around 6 pm which I kinda thought could have been performed on the bus on the first day. And the last day - you just check out from the hotel in Colombo. The worst hotel is the first one in Negombo. The Rani Beach Resort - awful rooms and common areas. Accommodation gradually gets better from there. Cooking demos get a bit tedious and repetitive, and mostly aren't interactive. Coconut milk, curry leaves and turmeric, repeat. Train ride was fun for the first 2 hours but being in a 3rd class carriage with no air-con or comfortable seats made it a bit tedious for the subsequent 4. This tour is VERY structured. You won't have more than a few hours to yourself before you're back in the bus. Maybe a whole day break mid tour would be good. Also the first half of the tour is the most active most people felt a bit uncomfortable during the second due to lack of exercise. Try and get out and about.
