What people love about Budget Tours in Morocco
- Highlights of Morocco
This was a fantastic tour. The only issue was that because I booked with you I didn’t get all the trip notes. My travel partner has knee issues and she just couldn’t even do some of the things the rest of us did. Stairs, stairs, everywhere stairs! It was very difficult for her. I will say our guide was wonderful. We had a very eclectic group ages ranging from 20’s to 70’s with varying interests. Our guide Samir could not have done more to try to accommodate everyone. I travel a lot and have to say this vacation ranks right up at the top!
- Morocco Tours - 6 Days Holiday Package Marrakech, Essaouira & Sahara Desert
I gave this review 4 stars, but it's really a mixed review. Pros were: acceptable communication by the company and assistance for post-tour accommodation; the accommodations themselves, including at the Berber camp; our excellent driver on the 3-day leg, Rashid. Cons were: a non-English-speaking driver on the day trip to Essaouira (impossible to communicate or ask questions), and no stop at the Argan oil women's cooperative which was to be part of the itinerary (although Rashid did this for us on the 3-day leg); inability to contact the tour operator directly (the only communication channels were through TourRadar, although the website gave the impression that TR was merely the broker), some lack of confidence that we would have an English-speaking driver for the 3-day leg (Rashid told us he had been called only the night before). Rashid was the best driver we could have wished for -- knowledgeable, responsive, solicitous, excellent communicator, safe driver. The camel ride through a desert rainstorm was memorable!
- Northern Morocco: Blue Cities & Bustling Marrakech
Our tour guide Said was amazing! He went above and beyond to provide a great experience for us and was super friendly and informative. However, some of the hotel accommodations were a little lacking, especially the one we stayed in at chefchaouen. They weren’t expected to be stellar, but the bathroom in one of our rooms was completely non-usable even after they tried to fix it (shower had no water, toilet did not flush). Tour still deserves 4 stars tho for the awesome tour guide, great transport shuttle, and amazing experience!
What our customers ask about Budget Tours to Morocco
When is the most affordable time to visit Morocco on a budget tour?
July and August offer the lowest prices for Morocco tours though temperatures reach their peak during these months. The weather stays pleasant in higher altitude areas like Chefchaouen and the Atlas Mountains. Coastal destinations such as Essaouira maintain moderate temperatures around 21°C (70°F) throughout the year. Past travelers note the weather diversity with one TourRadar review stating: "We visited in July and while Marrakech was hot the mountain regions were perfect for trekking."
What are the best budget-friendly areas to visit in Morocco?
Look for value in Chefchaouen's distinctive blue medina which offers economical guesthouses and local eateries. The Todra Gorge area provides low-cost mountain accommodations while Essaouira combines affordable seafood dining with reasonably priced hotels. A TourRadar traveler notes: "Chefchaouen was my favorite - the accommodations were simple but comfortable at Riad Cherifa and the local food was delicious and inexpensive. Essaouira was also great value with its laid-back vibe and budget-friendly options."
Are entrance fees included in budget tour prices?
Standard entrance fees to main sites like Ait Benhaddou Kasbah and Todra Gorge come with most tour packages. You'll need to pay extra for certain attractions such as Casablanca's Hassan II Mosque (140 MAD/USD 14) or Marrakech's Bahia Palace (100 MAD/USD 10). A TourRadar traveler confirms: "Main attractions were covered but we paid extra for some optional sites."
What type of accommodation can I expect on budget tours in Morocco?
Budget accommodations range from basic hotels to traditional riads guesthouses and desert camps. You'll find authentic Moroccan rooms at places like Riad Oussagou in Imlil while desert locations such as Tiziri Camp provide simple tent setups. Mountain stays often use basic gîtes with shared facilities. A TourRadar review notes: "The accommodations varied but were generally good for a budget tour - the desert camp and traditional riads were particular highlights."
How much additional money should I budget for meals not included?
Set aside $15-25 USD daily for meals outside your tour package. Street food and local eateries in Fes and Marrakech cost between $3-8 USD per meal while mid-range restaurants charge $10-15 USD. A helpful TourRadar tip states: "Street food and local cafes were very affordable - we usually spent about $5-10 for lunch and $10-15 for dinner when not included."
How much should I budget for optional activities?
Set aside $100-150 USD for extra activities during your stay. Common options include traditional hammam experiences ($15-20 USD) local cooking workshops ($30-40 USD) desert camel rides ($30-50 USD) and guided medina tours ($25-35 USD). According to a TourRadar participant: "The optional activities were reasonably priced - I did a cooking class in Marrakech for $35 and it was definitely worth it."
