What people love about Budget Tours in Israel
- Highlights of Israel and Jordan - 11 days
Fantastic from the first day through the last day! Great team effort!!! Orna, and Firaz were professional and knowledgeable. Trip of a lifetime, and wonderful memories as well!
- Highlights of the Holyland and Petra Trip Experience - 9 Days
Honestly, the only reason this is getting 4 stars is because of Yariv (our archaeologist tour guide) and Alex (our amazing driver) which I would give them 7 stars if I could for their work, knowledge, wisdom, and professionalism. I have never experienced a tour guide of this caliber and he made the trip interruptions/nuances seem irrelevant. Yariv was excellent beyond comprehension!! Wow! The hotels were meager and provided the bare-bone essentials. Pack your own body wash supplies/body creams. We got the 3 star accommodation option but didn’t realize we were heading to our first hotel under renovation. The hotels were more like 1-2 stars for U.S standards. Think hostel style and if you’re a couple expect to have a personal twin size bed for each person in each place. Breakfast and food stops were ok and others meager, not much healthy options in these tourist sites. I felt like we were eating shawarma and falafel everyday. So not enough greens and good veggie options. Buy healthy nut snacks at the markets for when you’re in the bus to hold you over. Make sure to pack extra empty bottles and towels to swim in Dead Sea/Jordan river. Empty bottles (30ML each) will assist you to collect your own holy water from the sites which they don’t mention here because they want you to purchase them in each sacred site (if so, expect to pay $7-10 for each little water bottle). We opted out of the dinner option but didn’t realize we couldn’t opt in when we changed our minds day of and one night we ate from food at the bar which was awful. On Shabbat pack something white and try to opt in for dinner option. Ask before you book your tour if this option is available. In Jordan River, pack another white garment in your luggage instead of paying money for a white garment to get baptized in the river (cost $10-15 at the store for cheap quality). In the Jordan River there were hoses coming out from the ground and we could utilize but not enter the river because of ‘high rain’. We bathed from hoses that poured water In from the Jordan River. They provide this option for us tourists which was very disappointing and hardly felt like a baptism. This felt very staged. Also keep in mind you’ll be with different groups who are staying at different hotels so picking up each group who stays at different hotels in the am and also dropping off in the pm after the tour. This can take 1-3 hours of your time each day. The tour each day is from about 9:30am-5pm everyday. Expect to be in each site for about 30-1.5 hours tops. Most times you’ll visit these places for 30 min and feels like not enough time to soak up the space and the energy of each holy site. The last leg of the trip was a flight to Jordan. The driver who drove us to airport took us to the wrong terminal and was a nightmare to switch terminals with our luggage. Thought we almost missed the flight. The one day Visit to Jordan was ok. We didn’t have Yariv as our tour guide and the tour/new group felt flat at this point. We needed to have the same tour guide and the group with is through the entire trip. Jordan needs a proper 2-3 days to soak in.
- Heritage of the Holyland and Jordan Tour - 11 Days
I really enjoyed the Israel part of the tour, Orna the guide and Fuad the driver. She is an amazing guide, always teaching and telling the whole history behind everything. The bus was clean and comfortable. Always on time, and both are very kind the driver and the guide. The hotels I didn’t enjoy that much, some of them were in no good conditions. The Jordanian tour was ok, the van was not so good, it was smelling cigar, and not really clean. As we drove for long hours there, I would expect little more explanation about the history of the country, and cultural background, not only at the stops we’ve made on the visiting points. The guide was friendly and on time, the hotels were ok, clean, but with low maintenance. I enjoyed the experience! Best regards.
What our customers ask about Budget Tours to Israel
When is the most affordable time to visit Israel on a budget tour?
The best deals in Israel come during March-April and October-November. These months bring pleasant weather fewer tourists and noticeably lower prices. The Dead Sea region becomes more accessible and budget-friendly during these periods while places like the Galilee and Jerusalem drop their hotel rates significantly. A TourRadar traveler shared: "We went in March and found the weather perfect and prices much better than peak season."
What are the best budget-friendly areas to stay in Israel?
Budget travelers often head to Tel Aviv's Florentin district where the Seanet Hotel offers reasonable rates or near Jerusalem's Damascus Gate where the Prima Park Hotel welcomes cost-conscious visitors. The waterfront area of Tiberias with options like the Prima Galil Hotel serves as another wallet-friendly base. According to TourRadar reviews: "The Florentin area in Tel Aviv had great affordable restaurants and a authentic local atmosphere."
How much should I budget daily for meals not included in the tour?
Plan for 30-45 USD daily for meals outside your tour package. Street food like falafel in Jerusalem's Old City runs 5-7 USD while casual restaurants in Tel Aviv charge about 15-20 USD for a meal. Local markets such as Mahane Yehuda in Jerusalem offer good value for fresh food and quick bites. As confirmed by a TourRadar traveler: "We saved money by eating at local markets and small family restaurants especially in Jerusalem's Muslim Quarter where prices were very reasonable."
What free activities are available on budget tours in Israel?
Many of Israel's most memorable experiences come without a price tag. In Jerusalem you can walk the Via Dolorosa see the Western Wall and visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for free. Tel Aviv's beachfront promenade and the ancient port city of Jaffa cost nothing to explore. The bustling Carmel Market and Mahane Yehuda offer free cultural insights. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The best experiences were actually the free ones - walking through Jerusalem's Old City and soaking in the atmosphere cost nothing but was priceless."
What entrance fees should I budget for that aren't typically included?
Set aside money for key attractions outside standard tour packages. The City of David Archaeological Park costs around 40 USD while the Tower of David Museum charges 15 USD. Special exhibits at the Israel Museum run about 21 USD and the Western Wall Sound and Light Show costs 15 USD. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The City of David tour was worth the extra entrance fee - just remember to bring cash as not all sites accept cards." Religious sites like the Western Wall and Church of the Holy Sepulchre remain free.
How much should I budget for local transportation costs?
Set aside 20-30 USD daily for transportation on non-tour days. A day pass for Jerusalem's public buses costs about 5-6 USD and typical taxi rides in Tel Aviv run 15-20 USD. As one TourRadar traveler mentioned: "Local transportation was affordable and efficient especially the convenient bus system between major cities."
