14 Days in Japan, incl. Tokyo and Kyoto
The extensive 14-day tour visits 9 diverse cities across Japan. From Tokyo's Harajuku to Hiroshima's Peace Memorial, guests experience modern excitement and ancient traditions. Includes 8 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 4 dinners, and unique stays from pod hotels to mountain temples.
- Days 1-3
Tokyo
Begin your Japan journey in the vibrant capital. Start with a cultural orientation before exploring Harajuku's lively teen pop culture scene and peaceful Meiji Shrine. Book a morning sushi-making class at least 48 hours ahead, then visit the electronic wonderland of Akihabara. One traveler noted, "Getting to the Senso-ji Temple at night was incredible - no crowds and the lighting made it magical." Visit Shibuya Crossing after 7 PM when lights shine brightest but crowds have decreased.
- Day 4
Hakone
Take the "Romance Car" train (85 minutes) to this mountain town for Mt. Fuji views. Bring layers since temperatures drop 10°C at higher elevations. Plan about 6 hours for the full Hakone loop transport experience. A recent visitor shared, "Even though Fuji was cloudy, our rooftop nabe dinner watching the sunset over the mountains made up for it."

- Days 3-4
Kanazawa & Takayama
Explore Kanazawa's Edo-period districts, including the Higashi Geisha area and Kenroku-en Garden. Take a 2-hour train to Takayama where you can stay in a traditional inn and visit the Hida No Sato folk village.
- Days 5-7
Hiroshima & Miyajima
Take a 5-hour bullet train to reach Hiroshima's Peace Park and Museum. A short ferry ride takes you to Miyajima Island, home to the iconic "floating" torii gate. "The shrine dates to the 6th century - get there early before tour groups arrive, and save energy to hike Mt. Misen for incredible island views," shares one reviewer.
- Days 8-10
Kyoto
After a 2-hour train ride to Kyoto, start with the golden Kinkaku-ji pavilion before the crowds arrive at 10am. Walk the Philosopher's Path to visit several temples and see the torii gates at Fushimi Inari shrine. One traveler notes: "Bring good walking shoes with grip; the stone steps get slippery when wet."

What people love about 2-week Japan tours
- Japan Classic 14 Day - One Life Adventures
Had a truly amazing trip of a LIFETIME in Japan with One life. Japan is just one of a kind... a place that you have to visit to understand!! This tour covered so much in just 14 days, that I could never have done this myself. Early starts meant we avoided the other tourists at the famous attractions. It’s totally worth spending thay bit extra and doing the 14 day tour as this included some of my highlights of the whole trip. Adam was an amazing guide, so organized and very knowledgable about Japan, and he was great fun too (his only downfall was his dad jokes)! The 14 day itinerary was a perfect mix of vibrant modern city, traditional Japanese culture and nature. I loved every moment of the trip and will never forget this experience. Thank you again one life for my second different but equally incredible tour. Will be booking my next one very soon...
- Discover Japan
Great way to see Japan. Everything went great! Good group of people. Great guide. The itinerary gave us a good feel for the country with included activities / enough free time to explore on our own. Would certainly do more trips with G.
- Simply Japan
A very good introduction to Japan. Be aware that there is a fair bit of walking involved and the agenda is hurried at times because some venues and museums close early. I felt more time was needed in Hiroshima and less in Osaka.
