- Italian Vistas (Rome to Stresa) (2024)
From the time we booked to our trip to the airport for our return home, Colette was amazing. Having never been to Italy, we wanted to see a lot. The Italian vistas tour was perfect. We never need to worry about anything. Hotels, travel, meals, tickets to sights were all taken care of. Very efficiently. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly and fun. Highly recommend

What our customers ask about Italy and Switzerland Family Tours
What are the best family-friendly activities and attractions in Italy and Switzerland?
Both countries offer activities that keep children engaged while introducing them to local culture. Switzerland's cable car rides to Grindelwald First and Mount Stanserhorn let families walk on suspended bridges and watch for marmots in their natural habitat. Italy provides hands-on experiences like glass-blowing demonstrations in Venice while mini-trains in Pisa take families to the famous Leaning Tower. The Colosseum in Rome brings history to life for all ages. Many accommodations like the Hotel Albatros in Florence are set up for families with easy access to main sites and kid-friendly facilities.
What is the ideal time of year to visit Italy and Switzerland with children?
Late spring (May-June) or early fall (September) provide the most comfortable conditions for family travel. Italian cities such as Rome and Florence can reach 95°F (35°C) in summer while Swiss destinations like Lucerne and Grindelwald stay cooler. September offers a sweet spot with temperatures suitable for both gelato in Rome and hiking in the Alps. Hotels like the Movenpick in Zurich provide good climate control during warmer months.
What accommodation options are best suited for families?
Family-focused hotels on most tours include connecting rooms or larger family suites. Properties like Harrys Home Schweiz in Zurich offer extra space and amenities for children. In Italy the IH Roma Z3 provides family rooms with additional beds. These properties often include breakfast buffets and staff who can recommend local family restaurants.
What special family experiences are included in these tours?
Tours combine education with entertainment through activities like pizza-making in Rome Venetian mask painting and Swiss chocolate tasting sessions. Some tours include unique experiences such as dinner at a 12th-century Florentine castle where families learn about medieval life through storytelling. These activities help children connect with local culture in ways they'll remember.
How are meals handled on family tours through Italy and Switzerland?
Tours typically cover daily breakfast and select dinners including special experiences like meals at a Tuscan castle. Swiss itineraries often feature traditional lunches during excursions such as the Grindelwald visit. Neighborhoods like Rome's Trastevere have restaurants that cater to families with both local and familiar menu options suitable for younger travelers.
