Our 22 days exploring Europe with our wonderful guide Karina exceeded all our expectations. Her fun loving nature and energy rubbed off on the group and we made many life long friends from around the world. We saw so much and experienced so many things in such a short time it was mind blowing. Mark drove us around in our comfortable coach with plenty of skill he took a lot of the stress away that we would have had doing it on our own. Hotels were very good. You do need to be fit physically and mentally to make the most out of it and the optional extras were well priced and worth doing. We will certainly travel with Expat again great value and very professional.

Lynda Brown did a fantastic job! Gerard as our driver was also phenomenal. My only suggestion is to have a microphone for Lynda at the dinner on the last night. I could not hear Lynda or the cowboy poet.

Best time to visit Canada and USA
- Spring 2026
Our East Coast tours really shine in spring, typically running 14-15 days between New York and Boston. The timing works perfectly - you'll catch Boston's Freedom Trail and historic sites just as winter fades, then head up into Canada when everything's coming alive. There's something special about visiting Quebec's sugar shacks during maple season; our travelers connect with local families who've been making syrup for generations and sample authentic dishes right where they're made. The spring routes take you to Niagara Falls when the winter melt makes the flow incredibly powerful, plus you'll see Amish farmers bringing their fields to life during spring planting season in Pennsylvania.

- Summer 2026
Summer lets us run our full range of tours across both countries. The Eastern routes include some nice extras - you can watch the Parliament's Changing of the Guard in Ottawa and take evening boats through the Thousand Islands. Over in the Rockies, the long summer days are perfect for spotting wildlife in Jasper National Park and walking on the Athabasca Glacier with expert guides. Our customers particularly enjoy mixing outdoor activities with city culture - you can canoe on Lake Louise, hike through Glacier National Park and also explore Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle. Along the Pacific Coast, the summer schedule includes whale watching trips and visits to Butchart Gardens when the flowers are in full bloom.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall brings out amazing colors along our Eastern routes - driving through New Hampshire's White Mountains and Quebec's Laurentian Hills means you'll want your camera ready pretty much constantly. Our travelers tell us autumn hits the sweet spot for combining city exploration with natural sights - you can wander Montreal's Mount Royal Park, explore Boston's historic areas and take in the scenery. The Pennsylvania Dutch country looks particularly nice as the Amish communities bring in their harvest. We've noticed our September and October tours tend to fill up fast; people love that mix of comfortable weather, fewer tourists and rich fall colors all the way from New York to Quebec.

What Kind of Local Cultural Experiences Can You Join In?
There's something really special about experiencing native traditions firsthand like joining a traditional Pow Wow dance at M'dahòkì Farm near Ottawa. It's where you can learn directly from Algonquin people about indigenous cultures across Canada and the farm works with local elders and artisans keeping traditional arts alive. Over in the USA head to Lancaster County Pennsylvania where Amish culture comes to life. You can actually ride in an authentic Amish buggy through the countryside browse local markets and get a real sense of their unique lifestyle. The Eastern US & Canada Grand Vacation tour includes a fantastic stop at the Amish Farm & House where you'll get the full experience.
Where Are the Best Natural Areas and How Do You Get There?
The natural wonders in these countries are simply breathtaking. Canada's got stunning spots like Banff and Jasper National Parks connected by the incredible Icefields Parkway. Most people explore by coach tour or self-drive trips to really soak in those landscapes do some hiking and spot wildlife. Take the Canadian Rockies and Pacific Coast tour and you'll even get to ride the Ice Explorer on Athabasca Glacier. In the USA you've got iconic parks like Yellowstone Yosemite and the Grand Canyon which you can visit through organized tours rental cars or quick domestic flights. The Grand Alaskan Adventure with Alaska Cruise really showcases places like Denali National Park with options for wildlife tours and helicopter rides.
How Do You Get Around Canada and the USA?
Getting around these vast countries is actually pretty straightforward. Coach tours are super convenient with set routes between major spots - like the Eastern USA & Canada Escape tour that connects 16 different destinations. If you prefer more freedom grab a rental car and hit the excellent highway network. For longer distances domestic flights are your best bet especially if you're heading to places like California or Alaska. The California Coast Chicago and NY tour includes these flights to make things easier. And don't forget about Amtrak trains particularly along the East Coast they're a really relaxing way to travel between cities.
What Local Foods Should You Try and Where?
You haven't really experienced Canada until you've tried poutine - those french fries cheese curds and gravy are just something else. And the maple syrup experience is a must especially at a sugar shack near Quebec City where you can see how it's made and try maple-flavored everything at local markets. The Best of Eastern Canada and USA tour lets you experience both plus includes some great cooking demos using local ingredients. In the USA you've got to try a proper Maine lobster feast in Bar Harbor or grab an authentic Philly Cheesesteak right off the street in Philadelphia. That same tour actually includes a special dinner featuring fresh Maine lobster in Bar Harbor - it's definitely a highlight.
