Stop in Reefton to watch local guides show traditional gold panning. A recent visitor shared: "Watching the water-powered gold stamping battery working was fascinating - really brings the gold rush era to life."
- Day 2Westport to KumaraVisit Cape Foulwind early to see the fur seals when they're most active in the morning light. Take the open-air train through Nile River Canyon but bring a rain jacket since the rainforest stays wet even on clear days. - Day 4Fox Glacier AreaTake an early morning walk around Lake Matheson when the water is calm for perfect reflection photos of Mt. Cook. The walk takes about 1.5 hours. Wear sturdy shoes as the path gets muddy. Book a glacier heli-hike ahead of time but have backup plans since weather often cancels flights. Try a pounamu carving workshop in town if it rains.

What people love about 7-day New Zealand South Island tours
- Southern VoyagerIt was the best part of my New Zealand Trip! Would totally recommend for a stress-free trip, everything is sorted out for you and Robbie is the man! I got to see every part of the South Island that I have dreamt of visiting and some other places I hadn't even heard of, plus I made some great new friends. If you are looking to see the South Island, do it with Wild Kiwi!
- Southern LoopI had the best 7 days on my Southern Loop tour with Wild Kiwi. This tour blew all my expectations and it was awesome to check out the Upper South Island. My favorite spots were Kaikoura, where I went swimming with dolphins and also the Abel Tasman National Park. The vehicle was so comfortable and there was plenty of space to stretch out and being able to connect to the wifi was a bonus! The pace of the tour was great as there were plenty of opportunities to do lots of walks, activities and really explore the different locations along the way. Overall, I couldn't recommend Wild Kiwi enough.
- Wild West from Queenstown - Top rated by National GeographicWe were skeptical about a group tour, but this was an amazing experience from start to finish. The itinerary was perfect and jam packed with so much natural wonder. Our guides were super passionate about their country and so helpful with planning the remainder of our trip. Couldn't recommend Flying kiwi highly enough!
