7 Day Patagonia Itinerary, incl. El Calafate and El Chaltén
The wonders of Patagonia unfold over 7 days across 5 key destinations. Walk 17km on Fitz Roy trail, marvel at Perito Moreno Glacier, and stay at comfortable lodges while enjoying optional experiences like Rancho Aparte's traditional cuisine.
- Day 1
El Calafate to El Chaltén
The 3-hour bus ride from El Calafate Airport to El Chaltén takes you past Lake Argentino and Lake Viedma. Stop for 15 minutes at Parador La Leona, a historic spot where explorer Francisco Moreno survived a puma attack. "The drive offers stunning views of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre in the distance - try to sit on the left side of the bus for the best photos."
- Day 2
Fitz Roy Trek
Get an early start at 7 AM for the challenging 17km Laguna de los Tres trail. The last kilometer is tough with a 400m climb, but seeing Fitz Roy's granite spires makes it worthwhile. Pack warm layers since mornings can be near freezing even in summer. Take at least 2 liters of water. You won't find water refills after Poincenot campground.
- Day 3
Cerro Torre Trail
The 18km Laguna Torre trail is easier but just as beautiful. Walk through beech forests along the Fitz Roy River valley to reach a glacial lake with floating icebergs. The best part is watching Cerro Torre's peak emerge from the clouds. "Start by 8 AM - the afternoon winds near Laguna Torre can be intense enough to knock you off balance."
- Day 4
El Chaltén to El Calafate
- Day 5
Perito Moreno Glacier
- Day 6
El Calafate Free Day
- Day 7

7 Days in Argentina, incl. Buenos Aires and Patagonia
This Patagonian adventure spans seven days: 2 nights in Buenos Aires, 2 nights at Perito Moreno Glacier, and 2 nights in Tierra del Fuego National Park.
- Days 1-2
Buenos Aires
Start your Argentina adventure in the capital city. Book your stay in Palermo or Recoleta for a great mix of safety and local character. Begin your first full day with a city tour of the historic center. Get to Plaza de Mayo early before the crowds arrive then explore La Boca's vibrant Caminito street in the cooler morning hours. A recent visitor shared: "The Sunday antiques fair in San Telmo was a highlight - get there before 11 AM to really browse the stalls without the tourist rush."
- Days 3-4
El Calafate & Perito Moreno Glacier
Catch a morning flight to El Calafate (3 hours) with a quick 20-minute transfer into town. Use your first day to adjust to Patagonia's unpredictable weather patterns. Pack plenty of layers as temperatures can change quickly. The next day you'll see the incredible Perito Moreno Glacier. The drive from town is about 80 minutes. Try to reach the viewing walkways by 9 AM before the big tour groups arrive. Plan about 2.5 hours to walk the glacier circuit. Wear good shoes since the metal walkways can get slippery. You'll never forget the booming sound of ice breaking off into the lake.
- Days 5-7
Ushuaia & Tierra del Fuego
Take a 2-hour flight to Ushuaia the southernmost city in the world. The airport is just 15 minutes from downtown. Stay on San Martin street to be close to good restaurants and the port. Spend a full day exploring Tierra del Fuego National Park just 11km from the city. A half-day tour will show you the best spots like Lapataia Bay and Roca Lake. One traveler noted: "The views along the Lapataia River were incredible but the wind really picks up after 2 PM - go early and bring a warm jacket even in summer."
7 Days in Patagonia, incl. Los Antiguos and Chile Chico
Rolling through 5 cities across Argentina and Chile over seven days. Daily excursions showcase cave art, marble formations, lake circuits, and national park wonders.
- Day 1
Comodoro Rivadavia to Los Antiguos
- Day 2
Cueva de las Manos
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Cueva de las Manos. Get there when it opens at 9 AM to avoid crowds and catch the best morning light for photos of the 9,000-year-old hand paintings. The site involves moderate hiking at elevation so bring water and wear good shoes. A recent visitor shared: "The guided tour at Cave of the Hands was excellent - having an English-speaking guide made all the difference in understanding the incredible history of these ancient paintings."
- Day 3
Los Antiguos to Chile Chico
- Day 4
Puerto Bertrand
- Day 5
Lakes Circuit
- Day 6
Los Antiguos

What people love about 7-day Patagonia tours
- Argentina & Chile: Cave of Hands & Bertrand Port 7 days
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. However, the on ground provider let Receptivo Aborigen down by not providing an English speaking guide. This did make it a little difficult at times, except that the guided tours at Cave of the Hands and the Marble Cathedral were English speakers. Fortunately while driving to and from the tour sites, it was not that important to have an English speaker - it just would have made the long trips more enjoyable. Receptivo Aborigen could not have been more helpful in providing advice and up to date details for me to follow along the way via What's App. I couldn't fault them in this regard.
- 7-days "W Trekk" discovering Torres del Paine National Park
Very entertaining and fun was this wonderful trip. Everything was perfect. Maria, was an excelent guide, very safe and professional. I would choose them 1 to 1000 times more
- Torres del Paine - The W Trek
Great trip! I highly recommend it!
