- Days 1-2
Harstad and Vesterålen
Start by getting your rental car at Harstad/Narvik airport (EVE). Try to arrive in early afternoon so you can get comfortable with driving while it's still light out. Stay in Harstad for your first two nights - it's perfectly positioned in the northern lights belt. You can take day trips north to see the Vesterålen Islands where you'll find stunning mountain scenery and quiet beaches.

 - Days 3-4
Andenes and Whale Watching
Move on to Andenes at the top of Andøya Island. This area is one of the best places in Norway to see whales with a 95% chance of spotting them. Take a 2-4 hour whale safari but pack warm clothes no matter the season. The Arctic wind gets pretty cold out on the water. The drive there on Road 7698/7702/82 gives you great ocean views and you might spot seals and eagles along the way.

 - Days 5-6
Reine
Take the ferry from Melbu to Fiskebøl to reach the Lofoten Islands. Try to avoid peak times in summer when lines get long. Book a traditional fisherman's rorbu in Reine well ahead of time. These water cabins on stilts are very popular. Visit the fishing villages of Å and Henningsvær where you'll see red cabins set against rocky mountain peaks.

 - Days 7-8
Svolvær
 - Days 9-10
Return to Harstad

9 Days in Norway, incl. Oslo and Bergen
The nine-day route takes in Geirangerfjord, Briksdal Glacier, and Sognefjord. Stays in Flam, Balestrand, and Geiranger feature traditional Norwegian dining and scenic cruises. Viking culture comes alive at Ægir Brewery.

- Days 1-2
Oslo:
Arrive at Oslo Airport Gardermoen and take the Airport Express train to Oslo Central Station. It's your best option during rush hour, beating taxi times consistently. Your first afternoon is perfect for exploring the walkable city center. Start day two early at Frogner Park (Vigeland Park) to beat the tour buses that arrive around 10 AM. Get the 24-hour Oslo Pass for free public transport and museum entry. Visit the Norwegian Folk Museum and Fram Museum but plan your route since they're on opposite sides of the peninsula.

 - Day 3
Oslo to Flåm:
 - Days 4-5
Flåm to Balestrand & Geiranger:
 - Day 6
Geiranger:
 - Day 7
Ålesund to Bergen:
 - Days 8-9
Bergen:
Visit Bryggen wharf before 9 AM to see the iconic wooden buildings without crowds. Buy Fløibanen funicular tickets online and go during early morning or dinner time to avoid long lines. A previous visitor shared: "The Fish Market is interesting but overpriced for tourists. Walk 10 minutes to the local indoor fish market for better value and more authentic atmosphere."

9 Day Northern Norway Itinerary, incl. Oslo and Tromsø
A 9-day route spans 5 Norwegian cities, featuring 3 days in the Lofoten archipelago. Highlights include hiking Linken Peak, exploring Bymarka forest reserve, visiting Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, and e-biking through Tromsø. 8 hotel nights and scenic train journeys included.

- Days 1-2
Oslo and Train to Trondheim
 - Days 2-3
Trondheim Exploration
Give yourself two days to explore Norway's first capital. Visit Nidaros Cathedral early at 9 AM to avoid crowds. Take a walk around Lianvatnet lake in Bymarka nature reserve but bring good shoes for muddy trails. Later, check out the Crown Jewels at the Archbishop's Palace. End your day with craft beers in the historic Bakklandet neighborhood.

 - Days 4-6
Lofoten Islands
Fly to Bodø (2 hours) and catch the afternoon ferry (3.5 hours) to Svolvær in the Lofoten Islands. Book a traditional fishermen's cabin (rorbu) for your stay. As one TourRadar guest said: "The rorbu experience was the highlight - nothing beats waking up right on the water with mountain views." Take a boat trip to Trollfjord to see sea eagles and hike Linken Peak (2 hours) for amazing views. Remember to bring layers for changing weather.

 - Days 7-9
Tromsø
Take the ferry-bus route from Svolvær to Tromsø (8 hours total). Rent an e-bike to see the city, stopping at the Polar Museum and MS Polstjerna ship. Stop for a drink at Ølhallen, the oldest pub in town. Take the cable car up to Fjellheisen on your last day for beautiful views of the city and fjords.
