7 Day Greece Itinerary, incl. Athens and Santorini
Olympic stadium and Temple of Zeus greet visitors in Athens. Three nights in Santorini feature Caldera sailing past volcanic islands and hot springs during this seven-day Greek escape. Flights and transfers included.
- Days 1-2
Athens:
Arrive at Athens International Airport and take a taxi to your hotel. It's about $40 to central Athens and the most reliable option. Your first afternoon is perfect for wandering the historic Plaka neighborhood's narrow streets under the Acropolis. On day two, get to the Acropolis early at 8:00 AM before the crowds and heat arrive. Wear shoes with good grip since the marble steps can be slippery. After seeing the Parthenon, walk down to the Ancient Agora and visit the Acropolis Museum. Stop for lunch at the museum cafe terrace for great views of the Parthenon.
- Days 3-5
Santorini:
Take a 45-minute morning flight to Santorini. One visitor said: "The organisation of the whole tour was superb - especially the seamless airport transfers." Stay in Fira or Oia to get the best views of the caldera. Spend your first afternoon exploring Oia's whitewashed alleys and blue-domed churches. Book a catamaran cruise for day 4 that includes Red Beach, White Beach, lunch and wine. Bring a light jacket since the water is cooler in spring and fall. On day 5, take the beautiful caldera path from Fira to Oia. It's about a 3-hour hike. Start early to avoid hot temperatures and pack plenty of water since you won't find many shops along the way.

7 Day Greece Itinerary, incl. Athens and Santorini
The Athenaeum Grand Hotel in Athens welcomes guests for this week-long adventure, featuring Acropolis tours and three nights at Santorini's Rose Bay Hotel. Temple of Olympian Zeus visit and optional volcanic crater excursions included.
- Day 1
Athens Arrival
Get into Athens International Airport and make your way to your city center hotel. The trip takes 45-60 minutes, so try to book an afternoon flight to skip rush hour traffic. Once you're settled, take a relaxing evening walk through Plaka, where you'll find lively tavernas and welcoming streets lit up after dark.
- Day 2
Ancient Athens
Get to the Acropolis when it opens at 8 AM to beat the crowds and the heat. One visitor shared: "Getting to the Parthenon right when it opened meant we had those magnificent views almost to ourselves." Pack shoes with good grip since the marble steps can be slippery. After seeing the Propylaea entrance and Temple of Athena Nike, head down to explore the Ancient Agora and stop for lunch in Monastiraki.
- Day 3
Athens to Santorini
Board your morning ferry to Santorini. The trip takes about 8 hours. Book seats on the left side of the ferry for the best views of the caldera as you arrive. From Athinios Port, it's a 20-minute drive up winding roads to Fira. Watch the sunset from Imerovigli, a quieter spot with views just as beautiful as famous Oia.
- Days 4-5
Santorini Exploration
Stay in Fira to easily reach both sides of the island. Start Day 4 with the Fira to Oia hike before 9 AM to avoid the hottest part of the day. The walk takes about 3 hours. A recent visitor noted: "The caldera trail gave us the most incredible views, but bring plenty of water and sun protection - there's zero shade." Use Day 5 to discover southern Santorini. Visit Perivolos with its black sand beaches, stop by a traditional winery in Megalochori, and check out the ancient ruins at Akrotiri. Get there early since it closes at 3:30 PM. Renting an ATV makes it simple to get around the narrow island roads.
- Day 6
Santorini to Athens
- Day 7
Athens Departure
7 Days in Greece, incl. Athens and Santorini
Ancient sites like Herodion Theater and Acropolis launch this 7-day journey. Santorini's cliff-top villages of Oia and Fira, volcanic wineries, and Prophet Elias Monastery follow, before flying back to Athens. Six nights in 3-4* hotels with breakfast included.
- Days 1-2
Athens
Your Greek adventure begins in the historic capital. The trip from Athens Airport to downtown takes 45 minutes, but leave extra time during morning traffic. Start with the Plaka neighborhood. The stone alleyways are quietest before 11 AM or after 4 PM when cruise ship visitors leave. A recent visitor shared: "Nightlife in Athens was beautiful and safe. We did a lot of walking in the historic center and felt completely comfortable." On Day 2, head to the Acropolis early at 8 AM to avoid crowds and heat. Pick shoes with good grip because the marble gets slippery. Visit the Acropolis Museum right after to connect what you've seen with the artifacts inside. A helpful tip: Buy Acropolis tickets online to skip the long lines that often stretch over an hour.
- Days 3-6
Santorini
Catch a morning hydrofoil from Piraeus Port to Santorini. The 5-hour journey ends with a stunning view of white buildings along the volcanic cliffs. Stay in Oia or Fira. Both have great caldera views, but Oia is more relaxed and upscale. One traveler noted: "Don't bother bringing dress shoes—we walked minimum four hours daily up very steep and winding hills. Sneakers are essential." Take a day to check out the red and black sand beaches. The popular Fira-to-Oia walk is 3.5 km. Go early in the morning or try it in the evening with some wine stops. The path is quiet at night. Book a sunset boat trip but look for smaller groups instead of the big crowded boats. Day 5 is good for wine tasting. Stop by the Koutsoyanopoulos Wine Museum to learn about how volcanic soil affects the wine. For sunset in Oia, skip the packed castle viewpoint. Find a quiet spot on the caldera path about 20 minutes before the sun goes down.

What people love about 7-day Athens Santorini & Mykonos tours
- Santorini Explorer Tour
We were extremely pleased with the hotels and transfers from place to place. We had plenty of time to explore on our own. I was very pleased with the company and the service provided and would definitely recommend them and use them again.
- Athens, Santorini & Mykonos Tour - 7 Days -
The tour itself was an excellent choice. We experienced some of the nicest Greek islands in luxury and the best thing is that the operator customized the itinerary according to our preferences.

Honestly I had the time of my life in Greece and I'm so glad I chose to go with travel talk. I had not heard of this company so I was initially weary but chose them because it was the perfect length of time and went to the places I wanted to see for my first trip to greece (athens, mykonos and santorini). We had an interesting experience because weather kept us in Mykonos for 2 nights longer than planned, and we almost missed Santorini, but thankfully the company stepped up and let us stay in Santorini for 2 additional nights for free. Considering most of us were most looking forward to Santorini, this was a bit of a life saver. My only real complaints were the accomodations. The location of the hotels we were in was pretty perfect, but the hotels in Santorini and most of all Mykonos were not place I would choose for myself. The former had spotty cell reception and wifi in the rooms, and the latter had no wifi in the rooms at all, but there were plenty of spiders in the closets. Neither hotel had individual keys for each guest. The hotel in Athens was by far the nicest. For those wondering about the age make up of the group, most of the travellers seemed to be in their mid 20s, with several in their early 20s, and a few late 20s. There was also a small group of seniors with us. I'm in my early 30s and had no problem fitting in with the group. There didn't seem to be any drama or sloppiness like throwing up on the buses, like you hear about on some other tours. Everyone was super friendly. I was surprised how few solo travelers there were; I think I was one of only 6 and the only to arrive at the time I did ( the tours connect, so some travelers show up at different points during the trip) Overall I like that this tour had a good balance of relaxation, nightlife, cultural sights, and free time. I recommend it.
