10 Days in Mallorca, incl. Palma and Pollença
A 10-day route spans 9 distinctive locations, from Palma's gothic cathedral to Pollença's Roman ruins. The itinerary features 7 guided hikes including the iconic GR221 trail through Banyalbufar and summit attempts of Puig de Massanella (1,365m). Guests stay at authentic accommodations including the historic Lluc monastery and beachfront hotels in Port de Pollença.
- Day 1
Palma de Mallorca
Get to Palma by mid-morning to make the most of your first day. Visit the Gothic cathedral La Seu early, before 11 AM to avoid the cruise ship crowds. Take time to explore the old town's winding streets. The Arab Quarter near Plaça Major is particularly atmospheric. Consider booking your hotel in Santa Catalina. This neighborhood gives you easy access to both historic sites and local tapas bars.
- Days 2-3
Port d'Andratx & Sant Elm
Drive 45 minutes to Port d'Andratx. Take the coastal hike to Sant Elm, which takes about 3 hours and gives you great views of Sa Dragonera island. The trail gets hot, so bring plenty of water. On Day 3, tackle the more challenging route to Sa Trapa monastery ruins. The path can be slippery when wet, so hiking poles are useful. Start by 8 AM to beat the afternoon heat.
- Day 4
Banyalbufar to Valldemossa
Walk the historic GR221 trail through terraced hillsides. The section from Banyalbufar to Esporles shows off some of Mallorca's finest dry stone walls. When you reach Valldemossa, visit the Carthusian monastery. Book tickets online to avoid the queues. Visit Chopin's cells after 4 PM when it's less crowded.
- Day 5
Alaró Castle Loop
- Days 6-7
Sóller & Lluc Monastery
The Balitx valley hike to Cala Tuent beach is one of the best walks on the island. Parts of the trail are quite exposed, so good sun protection and proper shoes are essential. Stay overnight at Lluc Monastery for a special experience. Plan an early start for Day 7's climb up Puig de Massanella. The summit views often disappear behind afternoon clouds.
- Days 8-9
Pollença & Port de Pollença
- Day 10
