- Day 1
Athens
Arrive in Athens and check into your hotel. When the afternoon heat subsides, walk through the Plaka district's cobblestone streets and enjoy dinner at a local taverna. A previous visitor advised: "The summer in Greece is awesome, but plan outdoor activities for mornings or evenings to avoid the intense midday heat."
- Days 2-3
Zakynthos
Take the morning ferry from Athens to Zakynthos (6 hours). If traveling in summer, book a cabin to escape the hot open deck. For your full day, take the Navagio Beach & Blue Caves cruise. Visit Shipwreck Beach first thing to avoid the strong midday sun reflecting off the white cliffs. Pack water shoes for exploring the Blue Caves.
- Day 4
Transit Day Athens
- Days 5-6
Mykonos
Catch the early 6 AM ferry from Piraeus port to Mykonos (5 hours). Stay in the Chora old town for the best experience. Spend your full day walking the white streets but skip the busy midday when cruise ships arrive. Watch the sunset at Little Venice. Get there 30 minutes early to find a good spot before the crowds show up.
- Days 7-8
Santorini
Take the fast ferry to Santorini (3 hours). Join the afternoon volcano cruise with hot springs and sunset views. Bring water shoes for the sharp volcanic rocks. Make dinner reservations in Oia well ahead if you want a sunset table. Use your free day to visit the black sand beaches before they get busy.
- Day 9
Return to Athens
- Day 10
Departure
10 Days in Greek Islands, incl. Santorini and Mykonos
Sail through eight Greek Islands over 10 days, from vibrant Mykonos to peaceful Sifnos. The adventure starts in Santorini aboard a 57-ft yacht through the Cyclades, visiting Naxos' Temple of Dimitra, Paros' Venetian ruins, and Folegandros' cliffside villages. Suitable for ages 16+, with experienced skipper guidance.
- Day 1
Santorini
Begin your journey from Marina Vlychada in Santorini. Plan to arrive by 9 AM before the 11 AM welcome meeting. It's smart to spend a night in Santorini beforehand to explore and avoid any rush. A previous traveler notes: "The cramped cabin quarters take some getting used to – pack light with only soft bags under 15kg, as there's minimal storage space."
- Days 2-4
Ios, Small Cyclades & Naxos
Head to Ios and visit the beautiful Manganari Beach. Your route through the Small Cyclades will depend on weather and wind conditions. When you reach Naxos take the local bus for just €2 each way to explore on your own instead of booking expensive tours. Get to the Temple of Dimitra early to beat the crowds.
- Day 5
Mykonos
Sail to Mykonos and plan to arrive early afternoon. Visit Little Venice first to get photos before it gets busy with tourists. A helpful tip from an experienced sailor: "The waters between Naxos and Mykonos can get choppy – take motion sickness pills if you're prone to seasickness, especially during the 4-hour crossing."
- Days 6-7
Syros & Paros
Visit Syros's local markets early when the produce is fresh. The Venetian ruins in Paros are best seen in late afternoon light for photos. One reviewer shared: "The less touristy islands like Syros offered the most authentic Greek experiences – the local tavernas there served amazing food at half the price of Mykonos."
- Days 8-9
Sifnos & Folegandros
- Day 10
Return to Santorini
The final sail back to Santorini takes 3-4 hours depending on the winds. Boats usually arrive early afternoon, so schedule flights after 2 PM. Consider staying an extra night to properly see Santorini.
10 Day Greek Islands Itinerary, incl. Santorini and Mykonos
A nautical adventure visiting 9 Greek islands over 10 days, costs approx. $270 per day. The route includes Santorini's caldera rim walk to Firostefani, Amorgos' 11th-century monastery, and Mykonos' Little Venice. Sleep in berth cabins aboard a 54-56ft yacht with shared facilities.
- Day 1
Santorini - Ios
Meet at Athinios Port in Santorini around 1 PM. "Make sure to arrive at least a day early to explore Santorini's caldera rim from Fira to Oia – the sunset views are incredible!" After meeting your group, you'll have a 2-hour sail to Ios. Spend your first evening checking out the port's beach bars and tavernas.
- Days 2-3
Amorgos and Small Cyclades
Head to the rugged island of Amorgos, where "The Big Blue" was filmed. Stop for a swim at Paradisi Beach before docking at Katapola port. Check out the 11th-century Moni Hozoviotissis monastery but wear solid shoes since the path gets slippery. The next day takes you through the Small Cyclades islands with their pristine beaches and tiny fishing villages that house fewer than 300 people.
- Day 4
Naxos
- Days 5-6
Syros
Spend two days in neo-classical Syros with a swimming break at Gaidharos Bay on the way. Walk through Ermoupoli's marble squares and visit the Ano Syros fortress-village. One sailor shared: "Don't miss dinner at a local family's home in Syros – the home-cooked moussaka and harbor views made it our favorite evening of the trip."
- Day 7
Mykonos
- Day 8
Sifnos
- Day 9
Folegandros
- Day 10
Return to Santorini
What people love about 10-day Greek Islands tours
- Holidays in Greece - 10 Days (Small Group Tour)
Our choice of this tour was partially to blame. We felt that we were always in a bus or on a ferry with only 3 full days of "touring". Each island had a tour representative to meet us which was appreciated.Everyone used the WHATSAPP app to communicate when on each stop of our tour. It was a good way to ask all the little questions that.come up each day. All of our hotels were very nice. Our communications with Travel Zone (Dilimar) were excellent. One item of feedback is that our Zakynthos departure transfer was almost missed due to the driver not being aware of our group of 3 vs 2. The vehicle was not large enough to transport us AND our luggage. A second vehicle (van) was called in and we just made our bus transport.
- Sailing Greece - Santorini to Santorini
Took a tour with G Adventures and really loved the experience. I did the May 2017 Greece Sailing tour and found that the tour was a perfect mix of the best food, best beaches, variety of sightseeing, relaxing, sailing and exploring. We also had a good amount of freedom to explore the islands where we stopped. The group brought together some adventurous people! The other unique thing about this tour was that it was not touristy or a large crowd. We felt like a group of friends exploring the local culture. I would recommend it for anyone who really wants to soak in the culture of the locale and also not stress out about bookings, schedules, costs, language barriers, etc. It's priced very fairly for what is included. Wish you the best of travel experiences!
- Greece Sailing Adventure: Cyclades Islands
The trip was the best holiday I have ever done . Great skipper who made sure we all mingled and got along. Recommended great things to do on each island , weather was beautiful and sailing a lot of fun . The skipper Kutte joined in and a lot of laughs had by all. Very professionally organised ,rate it 0 out of 10
