16 Day Indonesia Itinerary, incl. Java and Bali
A 16-day Bali tour covers sacred temples, traditional villages, and coastal retreats. Starting from Ubud's cultural heart to Lovina's dolphin-watching shores, ending with 6 relaxing days in Sanur. Visit Besakih Temple, Tenganan Bali Aga village, and Jatiluwih's rice terraces.
- Days 1-2
Yogyakarta
Start your Indonesian adventure in Yogyakarta, the cultural core of Java. After getting settled on day one, explore the bustling Beringharjo Market on your second day. Get there before 10 AM to avoid crowds and heat. You can walk to both the historic Benteng Vredeburg fortress and Sultan's Palace from here. The palace grounds are large, so wear good walking shoes.
- Days 3-4
Temples of Java
Get up early at 5:30 AM for a stunning sunrise at Borobudur, the largest Buddhist temple in the world. You'll get great photos in the morning light and avoid the midday crowds. Take a morning horse-drawn carriage or bike ride through Candirejo village to stay cool. Visit Prambanan's Hindu temples at sunset when the stones take on a beautiful golden color.
- Day 5
Ubud Transition
- Days 6-7
Cultural Ubud
Visit the Sacred Monkey Forest early before the tour buses arrive. Watch your belongings - the monkeys like to grab things! Spend your afternoon at Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) and browsing local art markets. The UNESCO rice terraces at Jatiluwih are beautiful but bring good shoes as the paths can get slippery.

What people love about 3-week Bali tours
- Backpacking Bali (18 days)
Absolutely thrilled with my Backpacking Bali adventure! The sights, the sounds, and the people were unforgettable. Our tour guide, Supry, was a gem – always eager to assist and with stories that made every location come alive. We visited places that weren't on the typical tourist path which gave us a real taste of the culture. Everyone on the tour was so friendly; it felt like travelling with a group of friends rather than strangers. I’ve come back home with tons of photos and even more memories. Can't wait for my next trip with them, perhaps Thailand next!
- Epic Indonesia 19 Days
Fantastic group leader, well organised transport and activities. Lots of free time to explore on your own outside of group experiences.
- Bali Experience 15 Day
This was my first travelling experience which is why I booked through Intro Travel to ensure I didn’t have to stress about organising everything. I met some amazing people and went to some really incredible places around Bali - one of my favourite places being Nusa Lembongan, which is the extra location you go to on the 15 day tour. Having said this, for the extra 3 days you pay for there’s only really one day of activities (snorkeling with manta rays). The it would have been better to have done something else while on the island. The activities we did were great but I definitely feel that more activities could be included, you have a lot of spare time (especially on travel days) which you could fit more into. For example, a few of us paid extra to do paddle boarding in Gili T which would have made sense to be included. Also, the Bali swing feels like a HUGE opportunity that Intro Travel have missed out on as its not far from a Ubud. Most of the accommodation was really nice and the locations were insane but a couple of the hotel rooms were a bit naff. The hotels in Canggu and Nusa Lembongan were my favourites by a mile. We didn’t get to stay in the villa which was within the itinerary so that was disappointing as I was really looking forward to this accommodation! The meals that were included were decent and we went to some really nice restaurants but it would have been nice to have had more included and for a soft drink to be included in those meals too. Morgan was a great tour leader - was always willing to help and was a good laugh, especially on a night out! Overall, I did really enjoy the tour and would love to come back to Bali for another adventure!!
