What people love about Self-Guided Tours in Greek Islands
- Greek Island Dream Paros, Naxos & Santorini- 7 Days (Self-Guided Package)
Throughout the trip I was happy to see that any special request was dealt with immediate and utmost attention. Thank you.
- 4 Day Tour in Paros, Santorini, Mykonos an Amazing Greek Islands Hopping
Overall pretty good except for locations of the hotels….if you wanted to go out and maybe get dinner or see the sites downtown, you need to take a taxi. Since you’re only there one day, you lose time waiting and trying to get a taxi. Everything else went well - transfers, ferries, etc except one of our tours was canceled due to weather.
- Mykonos, Santorini & Ios Island Hopping 7D/6N

What our customers ask about Self-Guided Tours & Trips in Greek Islands
What's the best time of year for a self-guided Greek Islands tour?
For a Greek Islands tour the shoulder seasons of May-June or September-October provide the most balanced experience. Temperatures hover around 75°F (24°C) creating ideal conditions for outdoor activities. The reduced tourist numbers during these months make exploring easier at popular spots like Oia. As one TourRadar traveler shared: "Visiting in September was perfect - we could explore places like Oia without the summer crowds while still enjoying warm weather and beautiful sunsets."
What type of accommodations can I expect on a self-guided Greek Islands tour?
Greek Island accommodations typically feature 3-4 star properties chosen for their location and comfort. Hotels range from intimate boutique properties to beachfront resorts. In Santorini the El Greco Resort offers views of the caldera while Mykonos features well-located options like the Yiannaki Hotel. A TourRadar traveler notes: "The hotels were fantastic. Only one hotel we didn't love because it was out of town but transport was very close by." Most stays include breakfast and put you close to key attractions.
How do I plan a self-guided Greek Islands itinerary to maximize my time and experience?
The key to an efficient Greek Islands experience is focusing on one island group such as the Cyclades. This allows for meaningful exploration of major destinations like Mykonos Santorini and Paros. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "The hotels were perfectly located in the towns with easy access to restaurants shopping and beaches."
What's the best way to navigate between Greek Islands independently?
The Greek ferry network serves as the backbone of island-hopping travel with regular connections between major destinations. Fast ferries connect Athens to Mykonos in 2.5 hours and Mykonos to Santorini in 2-4 hours. On individual islands buses and taxis provide reliable local transport. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "The transfers worked exactly as they should. The drivers met us at each location at the planned time and promptly transferred us to the next location."

Hotel staff often guide guests to authentic local restaurants.
