What people love about Nile Cruises from Aswan
- From Aswan 3 Days 2 Nights Nile Cruise
The room was very warm and there should have been a fan. Please also add that WiFi can only be used from 6-9 am, if bought on board. The guide was nice but we don’t understand why we pay for a guide for three full days including his stay over on board when he only works 1-1.5h per day.
- 3 Nights Cruise Aswan to Luxor including Abu Simbel, Nubian Village and Air Balloon
We went with TourRadar after another company took our booking and then told us that they could not honor the dates (after we have bought plane tickets). This was my first experience with TourRadar and they were so great to work with! They made great use of WhatsApp shortly after we confirmed booking and then throughout the tour. We felt like TourRadar was always "on it." They set us up with Owf as our guide for most tours for the four days. Owf was great! We had Owf as our guide all to ourselves for all except for one tour, where we got to meet one other couple (which we quite enjoyed). Transportation to Abu Simbel (which is not to be missed) was set up and we had a different local tour guide down there. He was also great. The food on the boat was quite good with a nice variety. I want to highlight one thing from this trip. One of the tour groups got back late, so we left Aswan late and we were told that we would miss seeing the Temple of Edfu. But our guide, TourRadar, and others worked together to get a group together to see the sound and light show at Edfu Temple. We had a group of about 30 go (we needed at least 10 for them to run the show), but we still had Owf with us as a private guide (and he got us a local horse carriage to take up to and from the ship). Seeing the Temple of Edfu before sunset and then lit up after dark made the experience even better. On the fourth day, we also had an issue with the ship docking late, but people were on it to get us to the hot air balloon ride. It was a rush, but we were in the sky about a minute before the sun came up. This is really the best way to see so much in a short period of time. One caution about traveling in Egypt, though, is that the expectations for tips at the historical sites is quite strong. When we were with Owf, he would tell people to leave us alone. Many of these sites, though, have sections where the guides are not allowed to enter with you. So Owf would talk us through what we would see and often show us photos as a preview. Then we would get in a tomb or inside a temple without Owf and the locals hired to work in these places would offer to take your photo and expect a tip, or they would offer to guide you around a corner and expect a tip, or they would point to something and if you look they would expect a tip. Just be ready and have a lot of $1 bills or small Egyptian pound bills. I also appreciated that TourRadar sent a list of the entry fees for each location. We could plan better. It may be helpful for people to know that most the major historical sites now only take credit card (which we preferred), but there are times that you do need local Egyptian cash. Again, this was first experience with TourRadar and as a seasoned world traveler (35+ countries) I was very impressed with them as a tour company from start to finish!
