The Balkan tour is a great tour visiting 8 countries in 14 days, yet it is not tiring. The schedule is good and not so hectic. Lots of rest time. Hotels are right at the centre town (3***) old but clean. Some have no elevators. The guide is good considering it was her first tour and was still a student. Overall, with the value and experience, I recommend this tour to everyone.

The tour guide Teia was the best! She made the trip even better. Unfortunately she couldn’t be with us for 2 days of the trip as penguin travel didn’t tell her about a visa she needed!! It was a very quick tour through the balkans and some places maybe didn’t need to be on the trip. E.g don’t need a night in Trebinje but an extra night in Dubrovnik! Overall it was good and the bus driver Bobby was great too!

Hello, I loved the places we visited. However my opinion is that we should have spent 2 days in Sofia, it must be included on this tour. Two days in Dubrovniv, 2 days in Sarajevo. I would have omitted Kotor and Our Lady of the Rock. One day in the other places is fine. Toni, the guide and Bobbi, the driver were outstanding. They really took good care of us. The single bed iat IBIS hotel in Skopje was terrible. The mattress was ver thin and it moved when I turned from one side to the other.. SOFIA MUST BE INCLUDED IN THIS PACKAGE. IT HAS A LOT OF HISTORIAL PLACES ABD BEAUTIFUL CHURCHES. I stayed one more day on my own but I would highly recommend to make it part of the tour.

A great fast paced tour of the Balkans with loads of great sights, sounds, smells and experiences for experienced travellers. Biliana is an excellent tour guide and a chance to immerse in the region, learning about the history, culture and history of the region.

The tour guide (Biliana) was amazin The Itimerary was 90% as scheduled, and there was a lot of beautiful sights. The hotels was mixed, some of them were really good, some really bad (The one in Trebinje was horrible, in addition to the fact that Trebinje was a waste of time), I would probably have liked less time in Kosovo and more time in the other countries, that being said: Kosovo is cheap. Sarajevo,Dubrovnik and Kotor were the clear highlights of the trip! If you want to visit many Balkan countries, and get to see a lot of places in a short period then this tour is for you.

We loved our trip through the Balkans! Be prepared for many hours in the bus but enjoying the gorgeous scenery as you travel. This is a quick stop at most of the cities/sites but you get a taste in case you want to return for a more thorough visit. I think our group really engaged with one another making the trip even more delightful. The hotels were fine, some were 4-5 star and all with nice breakfasts! Thanks to Valentina who did a wonderful job with our group on her first tour with this itinerary. Also to Boris our careful driver.

  • K

    Kimberly

    Asked on May 12th, 2025

Do we get a discount if we are group of 10?

    Price / Availability
    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

We do not offer group discounts as our prices are already calculated to be as competitive and inclusive as possible. However, we strongly recommend booking as early as possible to take advantage of the current rates. Our prices are reviewed and updated every few months, so it is possible that the cost for April 2026 may be higher than the current one.

  • L

Do you accept single travellers aged 83? What is the single supplement?

    Age Range

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

Yes, you can join the trip on the 27th of September. For solo travellers, you need to pay the single room supplement and let us know if you are willing to share a room. If we find someone with who you can share, we then remove the supplement. For this, we don't have another female traveller willing to share at the moment.

Please let me know how much the single supplement is

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

Single room supplement is 320 EUR. The total amount in this case would be 1710 EUR (1510 EUR will be paid id advance, 200 EUR is paid cash on the tour).

    Asked on February 26th, 2025

What is the local fees for on top of the tour fee, and why is it not payable with the booking?

    Payments
    Price / Availability
    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten February 2025

Price Includes: all transport according to the itinerary in a comfortable tourist A/C minibus, accommodation in standard 3* hotels (en-suite rooms), local English-speaking guides during the city tours, English-speaking tour leader from Penguin Travel (at min.10 people), meals according to the itinerary, airport transfers on days 1 and 14. Not Included: international flight tickets, visas (if applicable), entry fees around 30 EUR (to be paid cash on the spot), drinks and meals not mentioned in the program, personal expenses, tips (5 EUR/USD per pers./day).

    • L

      Lindsay

      TravelerWritten February 2025

In the pricing on Tourradar it says 'seperate fee of $331.55 to be paid locally'. Are you saying this is already included in my payment, but you administer the funds locally when I am there?

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten February 2025

The local payment is a predetermined amount (200 EUR per person) which is mandatory on some of our tours to be paid cash to the tour leader upon arrival. The local payment is part of the total cost of the tour, it is NOT an additional fee. Having a small part of the cost paid cash as a local payment is a standard practice in the tourism industry. During some of our tours in specific parts of the world, there are a lot of cash expenses that we as an agency need to cover (which are included in your travel package).
