Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival
You'll arrive in Cuzco at your own pace and head to your accommodation to check in. After settling in, the rest of the day is yours to wander around the city at whatever speed feels right. It's a good chance to shake off travel fatigue and get a feel for the place before things get more structured.
- Day 2
Cuzco to Ollantaytambo to KM 104, Trek to Inti Punku, Transfer to Aguas Calientes
Your pickup happens early, around 3:45-4:00 am from your hotel for the transfer to Ollantaytambo train station. After boarding the train, you'll ride to KM 104 where the trek actually starts. From there it's a 4-hour uphill hike to Wiñayhuayna, an archaeological site along the route. You'll break for lunch and then do a shorter hike to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) where you get your first real views of Machu Picchu. A tourist bus takes you down to Aguas Calientes for the night.

Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu and Return to Cuzco
Head up to Machu Picchu on the early morning tourist bus and join a 2-hour guided tour with a bilingual guide who covers the history and culture of the site. After the tour ends, you'll have free time to walk around and take photos on your own. There are optional hikes available like Huayna Picchu if you want more, or you can return to Inti Punku. Later you'll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes to visit the marketplace and local shops before catching the train to Ollantaytambo, then a bus back to Cuzco. You'll arrive late in the day at Plaza San Francisco.
