- AGAdam· June 20th, 2023Really great tour, I chose a good time of the year(june) and so it felt like I had the place to myself. The kruger and surrounding game parks were all magic and the bundle lodge where I stayed was just an absolute pleasure. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming, it felt like a home away from home. And the food was better than most restaurants I have been to. Highly recommend this tour to anyone considering it.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHello Adam. Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review! - Will· December 26th, 2019Overall this tour was fantastically organised and a must do if you’re heading to South Africa! All the local guides were very friendly, had a vast range of knowledge and very helpful. They were very willing to answer questions and give info of the country on the whole. The safari guides knowledge of the animals was exceptional and tailored the safaris to what we request which made it even better. There were some early mornings and quite a bit of traveling, as described on the trip notes, but it’s totally worth it for what you see in the 4 days. You still get a chill day at the lodge which is very nice with the options of a massage. Would have loved to have been told a couple more options for the free day like the rehabilitation centre close by for example - but can appreciate most people want the free time to chill. Potentially on the 4 day itinerary have the chilled day in the middle to break up the early mornings? But the itinerary is obviously very well thought out and runs so smoothly so you can sit back, relax and enjoy Kruger. The bundox lodge is perfect! Amazing food, awesome staff and very comfortable in such a unique setting. If you have the cash it is definitely worth doing this tour to Kruger for the stress free nature and the very well thought out itinerary. Had an amazing, once in a lifetime experience!Show moreTrip date: December 2019

- Jami· March 9th, 2019The lodge(Bundox) was fantastic! Great staff, nice glamping type accomadations(plus an amazing partly outdoor shower), bug spray in all rooms, and delicious food when eating at the restaurant. The pre-packed meals for the safari day were okay.... After waking up at 5am, they did not serve us breakfast until 10am, and by then I was starvvving! I also take medicine in the morning so an earlier breakfast would have been appreciated. Luckily I packed snack but not everyone did. We waited about an hour before actually getting into Kruger Park and I would suggest to Intrepid to serve breakfast(even if it meant eating in the vehicle) during that waiting period. The guides were great though and a nice variety of tours were included. The reason I did not give this tour a higher rating is the communication prior to departure was poor. We had no idea where we were staying and many things listed under items to pack(Things like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bug spray, lotion, etc were all provided. I also would have appreciated being given the adaptor types as I had to pack four just in case) were not needed because of this. Apparently they recently changed to a different lodge but I would still like to be given an idea of where I am staying. Also, no communicatiom before being picked up at the hotel so you wait and hope you will be picked up. Otherwise, great tour! Perfect amount of time as well.Show moreTrip date: March 2019
- APAletta· December 28th, 2017The trip in Kruger was not what I expected, focus was on the Orpen gate area, the different gides was good and new where to go to find the different animals. Transportation from Johannesburg to Kruger was a nightmare, the driver was speeding and we were relived to reach out destination intact. The Lodge my sister and I found very disapointing, one does not expect a lot of comforts in the bush but at least cleanliness would have been nice.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewDear Aletta, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. - Keith· August 31st, 2017We booked a Kruger experience tour with Intrepid. Unfortunately my wife experienced a sudden illness condition about 40 days prior to departure and she was not able to do any air travel. Dealing with Intrepid was a shocking experience. They were not prepared to change our dates and charged us a 50% cancellation fee of the total tour cost. Even though we had provided Intrepid notice well in advance of the tour date. In addition they took over 7 days to advise us that they could not move the dates and would need to cancel. Furthermore, I made a direct complaint to their complaints department on how we were treated and never received a response. Please be aware that Intrepid have significant cancellation penalties and are not responsive or even try to help you out once they have your money. I will never be booking a tour with Intrepid.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHello Keith, Thank you for sharing your experience with us and we regret these unfortunate circumstances. Asked on December 1st, 2023Would it be possible to fly to the Kruger National Park directly and have a representative pick them up at the airport? Could you advise which airport is the best to fly to Kruger National Park? Also, would it be possible to start the program on the first day a bit later? Maybe in the afternoon?

Traveler•Written December 2023What airport should we choose from Capetown to Kruger? What are the included activities and transfers, and how much are they? Do we have different tour guides on different days?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written December 2023
This trip starts and ends in Johannesburg. We depart between 5.30am and 6:30am on Day 1 so it is essential that you overnight in Johannesburg the day before the tour. The transport to and from Kruger National Park will be in a 13-seater minivan. This is a shuttle service that departs daily. You may be sharing this shuttle ride with other travellers booked on different trips and itineraries.

Asked on April 11th, 2023How is the accommodation? Is it more like tents or more something like lodges? Also, for three travelers would it be possible to share one tent, e.g. one double bed and one single bed? Could you also provide a quote for that? On day 4 the drive on the Panoramic Route would be optional, is there any alternative program, e.g. different tours, in case the travelers don't want to go on the drive?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written April 2023
Accommodation is at Bundox Safari Lodge and, if unavailable, Thornhill Safari Lodge or Panzi Lodge. Lodges have Pre-erected tents; it's more like glamping. Tents cannot accommodate three adults. Only two optional activities on Day 4; if they do not want to do the Panorama route, they can go for a massage.

Asked on January 10th, 2022Is this tour feasible for people with low mobility, that cannot walk more thsn 200 meters. Is all transport driving and included?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written January 2022
The physical activity rating is listed as a 2 out of 5, which is standard for most of our trips that do not include much hiking/trekking or walking long distances. The transportation is taken care of on this trip for you. This trip is a Short Break Adventure, which means you will not have a dedicated Tour Leader the whole time, and you will instead be taken care of by one or more of our local guides.

Asked on May 14th, 2018Is there a hotel list available?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written May 2018
The tour operator has advised that they do not have a hotel list available for this tour, as all accommodations are subject to change until 4-6 weeks before the departure date. After the booking is made you will be issued your final trip documents with your specific accommodation details. That being said, on this tour you will be staying 4 nights in lodges - hopefully, this can give you an idea of the kind of accommodation you can expect on tour.

- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written May 2018

Asked on May 3rd, 2018When and where does the tour start?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written May 2018
The Kruger Short Break tour starts very early in the morning on the first day of the tour, so it is recommended that you arrive at least one day prior to the tour to settle in. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn Rosebank you will be picked up at 6 am on Day 1, however, if you are staying at an alternate hotel you will be picked up from 5:30 am onwards. You will then depart Johannesburg, the 'City of Gold' and head off on an adventure of a lifetime!
