- SDSebastian· December 4th, 2023Automatic translation available in English. View in EnglishThe accommodation is very nice and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would particularly like to highlight the trip through the Kruger National Park with Daniel, with whom I traveled alone in a jeep. He has an excellent eye for animals that I would never have seen on my own. The best way to describe his very friendly manner is to give you an example. We were driving on a dirt road and Daniel asked an elderly couple coming towards us if they had spotted any animals, which they agreed. A few meters further on, Daniel spotted a cheetah and immediately turned around to tell the couple, as you don't see cheetahs every day. They were very grateful and we were able to watch the cheetah for about 30 minutes before it moved too far away. Many thanks to Daniel and all the other people who made my stay unforgettable. I still don't know whether I will travel to the national park again. It does sometimes seem a bit bizarre when 10 fully packed jeeps stand around an animal to get the best angle for a photo. On the other hand, this way of deriving economic benefit from wildlife is probably the only one that can contribute to the preservation of their habitat. At least within capitalism.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewThank you for sharing your amazing African experience with us, Sebastian. - SHSarah Katrine· December 3rd, 2022Amazing trip! We saw a lot of animals despite bad weather. The food was nice and the lodge was cosy. I would recommend staying longer than we did (we only had three days).Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Sara, thanks for taking the time and sharing your experience with us! - DSDENNIS· October 4th, 2019The best part of our tour was the enthusiasm of our guides/staff. We could tell they loved what they did.Show moreTrip date: October 2019
- BDBeserat· May 24th, 2017The tour guides and the tour itself were spectacular. The guides did their best to keep us entertained and knew exactly what they were doing. They went the extra mile to show us the big 5 which we really appreciated. The organization of intrepid and their customer service, on the other hand, was very poor. They were not responsive in a timely manner. They weren't willing to accommodate for minor inconveniences from the customer. For example, my crew asked to be picked up from a destination that was 5 min away from the original pick up location. Keeping in mind that we were supposed to be at that location at 5:30am, intrepid should have accommodated for us but it took 5 different people contacting them separately and several back and forth to come pick us up. Tourradar was also responsible for this mess because they acted as a middle man instead of directly allowing us to deal with the issue. These and other types of details that seem simple caused a lot of negative experiences in the tour. Aside from that, seeing the animals and the actual tour were priceless.Show moreTrip date: May 2017

Asked on October 31st, 2024I am a solo traveller who will be living in Joburg and want to do a guided experience through Kruger. I was curious if this is a good way to do that as a single person?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written October 2024
As a solo traveler if you are looking for more of a guided group environment this trip would not be the best fit. On our Short Breaks, you maintain a good level of independence and freedom, with the added bonus of having the details sorted out for you. You'll have lots of free time and you won't be accompanied by a Trip Leader. This means that all included activities and tours will be run by different local Intrepid partners, and these may operate independently from each other. The included activities and transfers will operate on a join-in basis, which means that you could have your Adventure all to yourself, or others may join you along the way.

Asked on June 13th, 2024What are the chances of seeing a variety of animals listed on the itinerary (or more), including the big 5 during October?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written June 2024
The best time to visit Kruger National Park would be at the beginning or end of the dry season which is April - September/Early October. I would definitely recommend September/very early October because the dry season will be at its peak and all of the animals will be making their way to the watering holes, which gives you the best chance to see the big 5!
