There are some long travel days by private and public transport (up to 10 hours on the road) on the border crossing days. These are relatively comfortable vehicles with air conditioning, designated seats and luggage compartments.

Most of the accommodation on this trip is in hotels (mostly 2 to 3-star). Facilities are often basic, with some properties not having a continuous supply of hot water on occasion. All rooms are either fan cooled or with air conditioning and twin share with private facilities unless stated otherwise in the daily itinerary. Double beds are not widely available in South East Asia.

You will need to contact your local Vietnamese Embassy to arrange the visa in advance. For most passports it is required to have a Visa in advance and you cannot purchase on arrival at the border. This will depend on your passport though, so please contact your local Vietnamese embassy to confirm.
