Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Islamabad

You'll arrive in Islamabad and spend the day handling trekking permits through the Ministry of Tourism, then attend a briefing covering the trek ahead. Your evening is yours to rest up or walk around the city if you're not too tired from travel.

    Start point
Islamabad, Islamabad Capital Territory, Pakistan (Islamabad International Airport)
    Accommodation
    (Hotel/GH )
  2. Day 2

    Islamabad to Skardu

A PIA Boeing flight takes you to Skardu, though this depends on weather clearing up. If conditions aren't right and they cancel the flight, you'll drive the Karakoram Highway instead, which is scenic but long. Either way, you'll stay overnight in Chilas if the road route happens.

    Accommodation
    (Hotel /GH )
    Landmarks
    Karakoram Highway
  3. Day 3

    Skardu

Skardu sits as the capital of Baltistan, and your day here is free to do what interests you. Wander through the narrow bazaar, hike up to the historic Kharpocho Fort, or head out to see Satpara Lake with its turquoise water just outside town.

  5. Day 5

Trek begins - Askole to Korofan

The trek kicks off in soft morning light as you walk along the Braldu River toward Askole, the last permanent settlement on this route. After Askole it gets wilder as you cross barren ground and reach the Biafo Glacier, a massive expanse of ice and rock about 2km across. You'll traverse it on the established trail, mostly staying on moraine with some ice sections mixed in, and finish at Korofan.

About 3 hours of walking across the boulder-covered ice brings you to Urdokas, a flat sandy area created by lateral moraine.

Great tour! Visited mostly all the sites in northern Pakistan . Hunza valley is a must! Should have added Fairy meadows in the itinerary. Flying to Gilgit-Baltistan is preferable since the road going to Gilgit is very bad and dangerous at this time. However, we were well taken cared off by our driver Mr Ash. He’s such a good driver. Our guide Mr. Saeed is courteous, helpful, kind, supportive and speak English very well. I recommend Rock Valley tour if you like a rugged, high-adrenaline tour.
