This boat is dated and when compared to the boats we had to pass through to get to ours it looks a poor relation, although I guess this is reflected in the cruise price. Most of the staff were friendly although two, the purser in particular, came across as surly. He welcomed the various nationalities but excluded us. When I pointed out he had omitted Scottish from his list I was told there were too many nationalities. The mattresses in our cabin were at least six inches shorter than the bed frame so there was a gap. When this was pointed out the solution they adopted was to simply pull the mattress to the bottom of the frame thereby closing the gap at the bottom, but creating a gap at the top. The seating at mealtimes was too rigid. Just because we speak the same language doesn't mean we want to share a table with others. There should be more “2 people” tables. The food choice was limited with no real choice in each course. The sailing timetable didn’t leave much time to visit most of the towns we visited and mostly didn’t allow us the chance to have lunch on shore to give us a break from the ship catering. The bus tour to The Camargue was a waste of money. Driving forty minutes or so just to be dumped in the centre of a town that seemed to comprise mostly of tourist shops and closed restaurants and then to be told to be back at the bus in 40 minutes seems a waste of time and money to me (and several others we spoke to). Surely a better stop would have been at one of the road side nature reserves we passed on the bus journey which would have enabled us to get closer to flamingoes etc instead of just seeing them through the windows of a bus. The horse farm visit wasn’t up to much either. Basically I think there were some parts of the cruise that were okay but some that were poor. I guess it’s a case of consider how much you want to get from a trip and whether you’d prefer to pay more for a better experience. We wouldn’t repeat this experience.
