Financial District and Brooklyn
Start in the Financial District at Manhattan's southern tip, then walk through Battery Park. You'll take a ferry out for a close-up look at the Statue of Liberty before crossing the Brooklyn Bridge on foot. Get to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side early enough to catch the sunrise over the water. After spending some time there, cross back to the American side using the Rainbow Bridge. Walk around Niagara Falls State Park along the water's edge and check out Goat Island. If you're interested, you can also head into the Cave of the Winds for a closer look at the falls.

Once you get back to the city, you have a relaxed afternoon to ice skate at Wollman Rink in Central Park or walk around picking up souvenirs from your trip.
