Tokyo
You'll land in Japan and get through customs, then take a shared shuttle to your hotel. The rest of the day is open for you to settle in and rest up. By afternoon, someone from the tour will brief you on how everything works and what's coming next.

Tokyo
This is a full day exploring Tokyo with a guide. You'll start early and work through the major sites: Zojoji Temple where you can see Tokyo Tower, the crossing at Shibuya, Meiji Shrine, Omotesando Avenue, the Imperial Palace gardens with Nijubashi Bridge, then drive through Akihabara. Tokyo Skytree is next for views over the whole city. After that, you'll head to Asakusa to walk through Sensoji Temple and shop along Nakamise Street. Later in the evening, your guide takes you to Shinjuku to walk around the busy district and grab dinner at a local restaurant.

Tokyo to Kyoto
The bullet train carries you from Tokyo to Kyoto in about two hours, covering nearly 500 km. Once you arrive, you'll spend the day checking out Kyoto, the former capital. On the agenda are Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Imperial Palace, and Kinkakuji Temple with its gardens. Then you'll walk through Gion, the traditional district where you can wander around on your own and see the historic wooden buildings.

Kyoto - Tsumago - Matsumoto - Nagano
You'll head through countryside to Tsumago, a small village known for its old wooden houses. There's free time here to walk around, and lunch is included. After that, you continue to Matsumoto, a busy town where you'll see the famous 16th-century castle called Crow Castle. You get time to explore the city afterward. By evening, you travel to Nagano for the night.

Nagano - Japanese Alps - Kusatsu - Ikaho
Start at Zenko-ji Temple in Nagano, an important pilgrimage spot with Japan's oldest Buddhist image, where you'll participate in the Gomakuyo ceremony for good fortune. Then you head into the Japanese Alps through mountain scenery to Jigokudani Monkey Park, where trails and rivers take you through forested areas to see macaques soaking in hot springs. You'll pass through high-altitude landscape at 2,172 meters with views of semi-active volcanoes. Later, stop in Kusatsu, a hot-spring town, to walk through the city park with its open-air onsen and grab lunch. The day ends at Ikaho, another hot-spring town where you explore the old section with its traditional stone stairways. You'll stay overnight in a traditional ryokan with hot-spring access and a traditional Japanese dinner included.

Ikaho to Nikko to Tokyo
You travel to Nikko and visit the impressive Nikko-Toshogu Temple, which has a famous room known for the sound of a dragon, plus the quiet Taiyuinbyo Mausoleum. Walk along Kanmangafuchi Abyss where hundreds of Jizo statues line the riverbanks. You'll have free time in the town center to explore on your own, then head back to Tokyo, arriving around 6:30 p.m. That's where your tour ends. Note that airport transfer isn't part of this, but your guide will suggest public transportation options to get you there.
